The standoff lasted only seconds before military dropships roared overhead, searchlights sweeping the devastated complex. "This isn't over," Darius promised, releasing Noah and stepping back. Instead, he turned and staggered away, disappearing behind the ruined facility with surprising speed despite his injuries—speed that confirmed Noah's suspicion that Darius was far more dangerous than he appeared. "We need to go," Sophie insisted, pulling Noah toward their ship. "Now." As they raced back to their vessel, Kelvin was still staring at the sky where Storm had vanished, his eyes wide with scientific wonder.
