The room—Noah wasn't sure how to describe it.
Not that they were particularly dirty boys, but... wow.
It looked and smelled different.
Like Kelvin had actually cleaned up.
Noah stood there for a second, taking it in. Bed made. No random snack wrappers on the desk. His chair was even aligned with the table instead of being spun around backward like usual.
It was unsettling.
Kelvin cleaning up was about as rare as a Category 5 beast being spotted near a civilian city. Possible, but deeply unnatural.
Noah was tempted to ask if he was expecting someone over or if someone had already been here, but the look on Kelvin's face stopped him.
Glee.
Pure, unfiltered glee.
And then, before Noah even had the chance to open his mouth, Kelvin started talking.
"They picked me."
Noah blinked. "Picked you?"
Kelvin grinned wider, practically bouncing on the bed. "For crafts. In the interschool competition."
Noah just stared.
Kelvin.
The same Kelvin who spent most of his day looking for ways to hack the school systems just to mess with the administration. The same Kelvin who actively enjoyed causing tech-related headaches for the staff.
Representing the school?
Not that Kelvin was bad or anything, but... what?!
Noah narrowed his eyes. "So what's your angle?"
Kelvin blinked innocently. "Angle? What do you mean?"
"You. Representing the school." Noah folded his arms. "The same school you spend hours trying to hack just for fun. The same school you call, and I quote, 'a glorified daycare for future government tools.'"
Kelvin snorted. "Wow, you remember that? I say a lot of things, man."
"Kelvin."
"Okay, okay." He held up his hands, still grinning. "Look, I got nothing planned. No hidden agenda, no master scheme. I just—" He exhaled, shaking his head. "I'd hate to sit back and watch us get smacked by some stuck-up nerds from another school. That's it."
Noah wasn't convinced. "That's it?"
Kelvin nodded. "That's it."
"...That's it?"
"That's it!"
Noah just stared at him, waiting.
Kelvin sighed dramatically. "Fine. I also hate being represented badly. If they're gonna send someone for crafts and tech, it better be me. You know I'm better than those other guys."
"Okay, that sounds more like you."
"Damn right it does." Kelvin flopped back onto the bed, stretching his arms behind his head. "Man, you should've seen the other candidates. One dude was out here coding like it was still the past century. I swear I saw him use a semicolon in the worst possible place—"
Noah cut in. "Still doesn't explain why you cleaned the room."
Kelvin paused.
Noah smirked. "See? That's the real mystery here."
Kelvin clicked his tongue. "Man, I knew you'd bring that up."
"So?"
"...So what?"
"Who was here?"
Kelvin rolled his eyes. "No one was here."
"Lies."
"Noah."
Noah just raised a brow, waiting.
Kelvin sighed again, rubbing his face. "Alright, alright. I might have had someone over earlier."
Noah felt a flicker of amusement. "And?"
"And nothing."
"That's definitely something."
Kelvin groaned. "It wasn't a big deal, okay?"
Noah just kept looking at him.@@@@
Kelvin grumbled under his breath before finally sitting up. "Fine. Cora stopped by."
Noah's smirk widened. "Cora?"
Kelvin gave him a warning look. "Don't start."
"I'm not starting. I'm just surprised."
Kelvin narrowed his eyes. "Who?"
Noah's smirk widened. "Raven."
Kelvin's face immediately darkened. "As in 1A Raven?"
"The one and only."
At that point, kelvin looked to his table where Noah had dropped off Raven's tablet last night asking him to help the guy fix it. He turned it on and began to scroll through it.
Noah grabbed the pillow and chucked it straight at Kelvin's head. "Kelvin, no."
Kelvin didn't even flinch as the pillow bounced off him. His eyes stayed locked on the tablet screen, fingers gliding over the surface with an ease that made Noah's stomach drop.
"Kelvin." Noah's voice was sharp now.
Kelvin finally glanced up, his expression unreadable. "What?"
"What do you mean what? That's Raven's tablet. You fixed it, so give it back."
Kelvin clicked his tongue, still scrolling. "Nah, see, I agreed to fix it. I never agreed to not take a look around while I was at it. Besides, do you know what I went through to stop the virus the idiot let into his device? That's why I tell people not to click on any link!!"
He turned on the tablet and smiled to himself. "Well, here we go,"
Noah pinched the bridge of his nose. "Kelvin, that's—"
"—an invasion of privacy, yeah, yeah, I know." Kelvin waved a hand dismissively. "Spare me the moral lecture. You know this guy's shady as hell."
Noah groaned. "I already forgave him."
"Yeah, well, I didn't." Kelvin's tone was flat. "And maybe I wanna know why the hell Anng is even considering him as a rep."
Kelvin leaned back, kicking his feet onto the edge of Noah's bed as he tapped away. "Alright, let's see what our dear Raven's been up to."
"Isn't it password protected? How are you... never mind," Noah said half way realizing who he was talking to.
Noah sat on the desk, arms crossed. "You really shouldn't be doing this,"
Kelvin snorted. "And yet, here I am." His fingers danced over the screen. "Let's start with the basics."
He navigated through the standard apps—messages, call logs, browsing history. Nothing special. Just some class schedules, a few texts to teammates about training, and a ridiculous amount of searches about "how to increase reaction time" and "fastest way to build muscle without supplements."
Kelvin raised a brow. "Dude's really out here trying to min-max himself."
Noah rolled his eyes. "Can you not enjoy this so much?"
"No promises." Kelvin swiped again, entering Raven's hidden folders.
A collection of saved images popped up—training footage, screenshots of texts between him and a few girls, and a lot of candid shots of students. Some were clearly taken from the academy's public feeds, but others? They looked... personal. Like he'd taken them himself.
Kelvin hummed. "Creepy but not illegal."
"I'll just keep digging."
Kelvin moved on. Email inbox. Most of it was school notifications, announcements, and some standard back-and-forths with teachers. But one email chain caught his eye.
A back-and-forth with someone named C.A.
Kelvin clicked.
C.A.: "This isn't over. You're walking a dangerous line, kid."
Raven: "I don't care. I have leverage."
Kelvin's fingers froze mid-air.
Noah, sensing the shift, leaned forward. "What is it?"
Kelvin didn't answer. Instead, he backed out of the emails and went to Raven's contacts. Scrolled through the list. Stopped at the very top.
A name saved simply as C.A.
Kelvin exhaled. "Well, well, well..." He tapped the name, opening the full message history.
And that's when they saw it.
A video file.
Kelvin hesitated for only a second before pressing play.
The screen flickered to life, grainy but clear. The unmistakable figure of Commander Albright. And across from him—a female student.
The setting was an office. Albright leaned forward, speaking low, his expression unreadable. The girl shifted uncomfortably. His hand brushed her waist, lingering just a second too long.
Then the screen jumped. A new angle. The girl stepping back. Albright following.
Kelvin swore under his breath.
But Noah was focused on something else.
The draft message Raven had typed, waiting to be sent.
"I know what you've been up to. If you don't want this getting out, you'll leave me the hell alone. Consider this your final warning."
Raven wasn't just playing dirty.
He was trying to blackmail the vice headmaster of the academy.
A year one against a commander.
Kelvin let out a slow whistle. "Well, shit."
Noah exhaled sharply. "He's insane."
Kelvin smirked, but there was no real humor in it. "Oh, definitely. But the real question is..." He met Noah's gaze, eyes dark with intrigue.
"What the hell are we gonna do about it?"
