If Chen Xin wanted to eat them, pulling one out, washing, and eating raw was entirely possible. The tender carrots, though not mature, still tasted nice even in this early stage. However, Chen Xin didn’t do such things. He had quite a bit of carrots planted, and since he hadn’t finished last season’s harvest, there was no need to waste them. After checking the cabbage and lettuce left for seed saving, seeing no issues with their growth, Chen Xin took down the fixing panels on the hydroponic trays, preparing for new seed planting. Seed saving was a rather troublesome task because cabbage is a biennial plant, requiring about ten months for seed saving. Even with a consistent temperature in the greenhouse, the growth cycle still takes months. Fortunately, lettuce grows relatively fast. As the first batch of planted lettuce, the seed-saving plant Chen Xin kept had already flowered and fruited. However, the seeds weren’t mature yet, and thus were not ready for harvest. Although picking only the outer leaves of lettuce while keeping the heart allows continued growth, there is a time limit for this. After one or two years, it stops growing, so Chen Xin opted for complete harvest and seed saving. After cleaning the fixing panels, taking new seeds and placing them on the panels, spraying to keep them moist, Chen Xin returned the panels to the hydroponic trough. After finishing the tasks, he couldn’t help but tap his lower back, feeling somewhat sore. Although it’s a workload for one person, if someone else were helping him, it would undoubtedly be much easier. Seeing all the fixing panels placed back in the hydroponic trough without issues, Chen Xin confirmed once more before leaving the planting greenhouse. Though the work in the planting greenhouse wasn’t much, Chen Xin looked at the time on his phone after leaving the greenhouse and found it was already dinner time. Dinner wasn’t as luxurious as lunch. Chen Xin simply stir-fried a piece of lettuce and opened a portion of the shelter food Qin Lan sent today for dinner.
