As the gates opened and the carriage moved out, Ariana felt the unease she had been feeling earlier ease slightly. She wondered what would happen if she saw Zavren. She hoped he wouldn’t get distracted and that he would remain focused. She did not want to be the cause of more destruction—she wanted to save, not worsen things. There was silence in the carriage until Ariana decided to ask.
