Chapter 147: Tears of Silver

Ariana’s eyes widened as she stared at the lady. She had not expected that at all. The seer’s face was even more shocked than Raven’s who stood at the back, as no one had anticipated this. Ariana was still trying to process the fact that the person who had been here all this while was Zavren’s mother.That was the last thing she had expected—in fact, she had not expected it at all. But now, what was more important was the fact that she was awake. Was something wrong? Was this the first time she was waking up—or was this normal? No one had said anything about it, and she could not ask any questions as the silence in the place was deafening, almost suffocating and even if she had questions how could she ask when she had no idea where to start. The seer, whom Ariana had always seen with a calm and serene expression, looked completely shaken. She quickly moved toward the lady, whose eyes were open and staring at the ceiling, as if she were trying to bring herself back—or perhaps trying to understand her environment. The seer clasped her hands together apart slightly, forming a ball-like shape that began to glow. Ariana just watched, her mouth slightly open; at this point, she did not know what to say. The seer gently placed the glowing ball on the lady’s chest. It was then Ariana finally noticed the woman’s chest rising and falling it seems she was breathing now, yet her body remained still. It was as though only her eyes were alive and awake. Ariana did not understand what this meant at all. Her brain was still trying to process the fact that she was the reason for the war—because of her blood. Not to mention, the forbidden door had been made forbidden because Zavren’s mother was there. Zavren had kept it from her so she wouldn’t worry, and now his mother was awake. The lady finally shifted her gaze. Ariana stared at her, and to her surprise, the lady’s eyes rested directly on her. Ariana’s body stilled, unmoving. She had not expected that at all. What shocked her even more was that, even though the seer had placed the glowing orb on her, the lady had not moved her eyes from the ceiling. Yet, just as Ariana thought her gaze would turn away, her eyes had already locked with the lady’s. It surprised her more than she could admit. The seer observed carefully, while Raven stood at the other side, his lips parted slightly. He did not know if it was the queen who had woken her up, but this had never happened before. For many years, they had believed she was still asleep. And the fact that the first person she had looked at was Ariana confirmed his suspicion, as the lady must have detected the person who owned that voice. Raven had guessed before that the situation of the Vampire King’s wife and King Zavren’s mother might be similar, but he never would have thought that after years of the seer’s past checks, it would be the voice of the queen that awakened her. So what if the queen had not come? Was this how they would have continued, calling the seer again and again, checking for any signs or changes? Ariana’s breath hitched as she noticed a tear fall from the lady’s silver eyes. The tear slid slowly down her cheek, rolling toward her ear, while her gaze remained locked on Ariana. For some reason, Ariana felt it deep within her—an ache in her chest and a sharp pain in her head. She didn’t know why, but seeing the lady cry made her feel pain, as though she didn’t want her to cry at all. Then, the lady’s lips parted. Her voice was a soft whisper, slightly cracked. "Persephone..." Ariana froze. She had no idea what that name meant, but why did it sound so familiar in her ears? It was as though she had heard it somewhere before—but where? The seer remained silent, her expression unreadable. She knew the name would have to be investigated, and this moment would provide valuable clues. "Luna Ariana, please leave," the seer finally spoke respectfully. She wanted to test something—to see if Zavren’s mother was truly focused on the queen, or if her gaze had been fixed on something else entirely. Ariana gave a curt nod. She was already grateful they had allowed her in here; she had not expected to step into this room before Zavren himself arrived. The seer must have had her reasons for asking her to leave. But just as Ariana turned to go, the lady’s hand finally moved, though her legs remained still. "No... don’t go," the Queen Mother’s voice was low and hoarse, yet pleading. Her other hand lifted slightly. Ariana’s eyes widened, her body freezing in place. "Luna Ariana, please don’t go," the seer added respectfully, realizing that Zavren’s mother must have seen a resemblance between Ariana and someone from the past. Ariana’s movement had triggered something within her, causing her body to respond. Still, the seer was puzzled. She knew the royals of the past thoroughly; she had studied them in detail. Yet there had never been any record of a name like Persephone. "Mister Raven, bring the wheelchair. Her legs are temporarily numb..her body has forgotten movement after so long. She will not be able to walk for some time," the seer instructed. Raven rushed to obey, relief flickering across his face. He was glad everything seemed to be working out. The wheelchair he brought was the very one used when Her Highness had once lost movement in her legs; the others were stored in the palace. No one would have believed that today—the day his Highness’s mother awoke from her slumber of over a hundred years..had truly come. The lady swallowed slowly, her eyes still locked on Ariana, while the seer quietly poured water into a glass, knowing she would soon need it. "Lady Persephone... is that you?" she whispered hoarsely. Ariana stepped forward, her voice steady. "No, Queen Mother Diana. I am Luna Ariana, wife of your son, King Zavren." The Queen Mother’s hands trembled at her words, her body stiffening in response.
