Chapter 3: Discharge from the Hospital

Morning light streamed through the hospital window as Chu Miao slowly opened her eyes. She had a peaceful sleep and felt energized. After taking the healing pill, it proved astonishingly useful in this world. Her external injuries had already healed when she woke up from her coma, and now all her internal injuries were gone. With the slight introduction of spiritual energy in her body, she healed even faster. She felt like she could run a sprint now, but she knew she had to take it easy so as not to scare her family. She was itching to go into the space to cultivate for a while but she was afraid someone would show up and find her missing, then things would become chaotic. Just as she was thinking, the door creaked open, and her mother entered with a warm smile. "Miao, how are you feeling today? The doctor said you should rest a few more days." Behind her mother was a handsome middle-aged man and a young man in his early twenties. Those were her father and elder brother. Even though it was the first time meeting them, she felt as if they had known each other her whole life. She felt very close to them. It should be the blood bond between them as a family. She was glad that even after coming to a new world, she had relatives and a close family that cared about her. She vowed to do everything she could to protect them. Chu Miao lips curled up into a beautiful and innocent smile as she looked at her mother. "I am fine mom, can have the doctor discharge me. I feel great. " "Bunny, you just woke up yesterday and need more rest and observation. You can’t go home today. " Her father interrupted as he walked to her bed, bent down and kissed her forehead. She almost stiffened but the body’s reflexes saved her. She came from ancient times and was not used to men getting too close to women, let alone kiss her, even if they are close relatives. She still had some getting used to. She still felt a warmth in her heart at her father’s concern and her smile widened. She also found the nickname, bunny, both funny and endearing. She had been called that since she was little. It was a nickname given by her grandmother, and now that she is gone, nobody even thought of ever changing it. She turned to look at her father, "Daddy, I feel great. The doctor said it was a miracle I woke up and I feel that a miracle has really happened. I don’t even feel pain anymore. I can get up and jump for you to see. " She pushed back her blanket and went to get up only to have her brother hold her back down. "You can’t be a willful Bunny, you got hit badly and should rest. Don’t joke with your health." "I’m not joking with you, just let me get up and you will see. If not, you can get the doctor to come and check on me if you don’t believe me. Am really fine " "Dad, go and talk to the doctor so that he can come and check her. You know how stubborn she can be. If we don’t dispel the idea she might sneak out of the hospital. A middle-aged man wearing a white coat walked in with a smile "Chu Mo, how is the little princess doing today? Yesterday I was shocked when she woke up. I decided to do today’s checkup myself to see what other miracles might happen." Doctor Yu was a college roommate of Chu Miao’s father, Chu Mo. They were close friends and knew each other’s family and had been Chu Miao’s attending doctor. "Hey You, it’s good that you are here, she keeps saying she is fine and wants to be discharged today. We couldn’t convince her otherwise so it’s good for you to give her a check up and decide." Chu Mo. "I am a really fine uncle Yu. I could run a lap around the hospital without breaking a sweat." Chu Miao finally decided to take advantage of their belief that a miracle had happened to explain her good condition and get herself discharged. There were only twenty nine days before the apocalypse, she had no time to waste in the hospital. "Alright, let’s take a look." The doctor moved to check Chu Miao and after a while he just stood there like a statue. "What happened brother Yu, did something happen to Bunny?" After hearing Chu Mo’s question, only then did doctor Yu come back to his senses. He held back the shock he felt and turned to look at everyone. "Indeed, a miracle has happened. She is completely fine and can go home. She doesn’t even need any more medicine." "This is indeed a medical miracle. I will process the discharge papers for her. You can take her home. But you still need to take it easy, little Bunny. " He added before turning around to go get the discharge papers. Everyone was surprised to know that Chu Miao was really okay and could be discharged. But it was a pleasant surprise. "I won’t go to work early today, let’s take Bunny home first." Chu Mo said after a short silence. Nobody objected and Chu Miao didn’t bother because she knew no one would listen to her. So, she just waited for the discharge papers to be processed while her mother and brother packed her things. She got up and went to the bathroom to freshen up and get out of the hospital gown. When she came out everyone was ready to leave.
