Chapter 171: Impulse [2]

'Why not just attack from the inside?' As my thoughts peaked, i took the last step forward and reached the mouth of the monster just before it could fully close and smiled not-so amusingly— "I am definitely going to remember how much this'll hurt later...!" Then i thrust my left hand into the cone shaped mouth at the last second as the edges fully closed and clasped painfully around the full length of my arm. -Crunch!! "Arhhhhhhhhh!!" A painful cry reverberated from my bloody lips, as a jolt of pain, much more immense than anything i could think of at that moment burned through my devoured left arm. I felt teeth — countless of them — tear into my skin, shred my flesh, and grind my bones — crushing my entire arm like a brutal grinder. "Aahhhhhhh!!" My whole body trembled uncontrollably with pain. It felt like my left shoulder would be ripped off with the rest of my arm. So this was how it felt to be chewed on... Ah... It wasn't pleasant. Out of all the things I'd experienced in both life, this was probably the most unpleasant form of pain ever... But— "Huff...! Hufff! Huff...!" I tightly bit my lips as they bled, fighting pain with pain. My eyes widened so much it felt like they would bulge and roll out of my sockets. My body continued to tremble. —But i also continued to gather my Ether through my left arm. Then suddenly, i began to tremble for a whole different reason. "Keh-keh..." The pressure on my left arm began to mount until i could barely hold it back any longer. A bright purple glow began to pour out of the creatures mouth as a result. —That was all the Ether i could gather in one limb at once. I concentrated it into my left palm — folded it. Compressed it. To the very limits. The viscous energy that moved like liquid flame suddenly felt tangible. It became solid. I held it. I could wrap my finger's around its full form. 'It's hot.' Incredibly hot actually. It burned. But i was already in so much pain that such a difference didn't seem anything extraordinary. Amidst it all, i could already sense the shredded skin and flesh of my left arm slowly burn inside. Since i was going to attack the Sand Worm from the inside now, what better way than to go in through one of its 'ends'?! I had been thinking of how to deal the most, and maximum damage possible. None of my current skills had that much to any firepower, at the moment. So i had to rack my brain a little. I had to be more... creative. —just like every other time i had been stuck in a corner before in the past. —All those years ago when i began to develop my Aura Art, i often ended up blowing up my arms in the process. The concept of the Art i was trying to create, my body at that point couldn't fully withstand its pressure and would breakdown as a result. Because of this, i had to make a lot of concessions and revisions to the original idea. I was physically too weak for it back then. —and even now. My body has vastly developed since then, i was now more immensely robust and physically strengthened. I was stronger. More durable. More refined. But even still, there was a limit to how much concentrated Aura or Ether my current body could withstand all at once. —a limt more greater than before... One that always made a big bang. Just as i had physically grown more resilient over the years, so had my Aura. My Ether was far more concentrated then most. It would be more like... If before it was 'Highly flammable', Now it would be more like, 'Highly explodable' maybe? I recalled the last time i had actually used such a flaw and mistake to get out of a situation like this. My bloody lips parted in a smile. "[Impulse...]" Inside the closed mouth of the Sand Worm, Away from what my or any other's eyes could see, a blinding purple light gathered inside of my palm and expanded even more greatly. The moment, i uttered those words, something ruptured within my grasp. The Ether which i had gathered and folded almost infinitely exploded instantly at a single point. A powerful, blinding amethysts halo spread forth, and a thunderous sound reverberated from inside Sand Worm. —BOOM! A purple explosion took place from inside the mouth of the Desert King and ran through it's insides — blowing a part of its head open. My ferocious expression contorted greatly, as i felt everything below my left shoulder exploded and crush against itself from inside. The Sand Worm released a painful cry through the air and i was flung out of its mouth like a used rag doll with pieces of scaly flesh and blood around me. Before i could crash into the ground, i weakly caught sight of the appearance of the Sand Worm from mid-air and chuckled mildly in satisfaction and glee. A considerable part of its head had been blown off and melted, revealing parts of its burnt inside of the mouth. It's flesh was shredded and melted — upturned from the concentrated explosion inside of its mouth. The King of the Desert wailed and cried in what i assumed was pain. My figure swept through the air uncontrollably. My wounded body was almost nearly depleted of energy and felt like a big whole bruise. Especially my left arm. I almost couldn't feel a thing from below my mangled left shoulder. 'Ah, i think my bones and muscles exploded again this time too.' As i mused fleetingly, i flet my consciousness flicker and threaten to disperse. The next second i was expecting to crash into the rough, hard ground, i felt someone break my fall from behind and tumble backwards until we hit a wall. -Oof. "Cough cough. Th-that was too reckless of you, Victor." I heard a raspy voice and a small chuckle. "Xavier, huh..." It was Xavier who was the one to break my fall. At the moment, i was in his arms as we both leaned against the wall. I was wondering where he had been. But i guess that doesn't matter at this point. I weakly managed to move my head and looked ahead. A small, weak , smile pulled at my lips. "I still don't feel like the MVP of today though. Not when she's around." I said, gazing ahead. "Ceres, huh." Up above in the air, Ceres' figure was a boiling mass of greyish red aura enshrouding her form like a misty twisting veil. "That monster..." I weakly cursed. By simply gathering her Aura, space was rupturing next to her above the writhing Sand Worm. Then sharply, like a streaking phantom, Ceres' figure descended below and a powerful bang resounded as she moved instantly like a comet. The broad blade of her sword, pulsing with the energy of her aura, cleanly moved, severing space forward ahead of it. Then the sharp blade descended against the target — Cleaving the Sand Worm in two halves right from its mutilated mouth.
