Chapter 45: Afterword - Orc-Hunting Quest Arc

Hey'a! It's UelUel, your lazy and lousy PuroShark Writer. If you've made it to this second Afterword, thank you so much for your continued support of my book Days of Dungeon: From Simple Quest to Strange Adventure. Let's dive into a quick discussion about the main character updates, the concept of Magic in the story, the supporting characters of this arc, and the inspiration and background for the Orc-Hunting Quest. --- Main Characters --- Lynn – The Moody "Girlfriend" Let's start with the attention-grabber, the scene-stealer, the beautiful and mischievous mage: Lynn. In this arc, it wasn't just Lynn's mischief, dramatic flair, and audacity that stood out—but also her constant teasing and flirtation with Arezu through mock romance. If you're wondering why Lynn's personality is like that... well, that's a secret for now. But rest assured, her confident, high self-esteem demeanor and playful antics have deeper reasons beyond just making her character charming. All will be revealed in future arcs—so stay tuned! Also, it was revealed that Lynn's eccentric eyes have a unique ability. Through them, she can perceive the flow of mana more clearly than even an elf. She can see the extension of a soul better than a dwarf, sense divine power more keenly than a beastkin, and detect the corruption of curses more sharply than a priestess. The origin of this power will be explained soon. So again—stay tuned! Lynn's Profile (as of the Orc-Hunting Quest Arc): Name: Lynn Nickname: Lady Impaler Class: Iron-Rank Mage Adventurer (Self-proclaimed Priestess and Scout) Personality: Mischievous, audacious, sarcastic, confident, proud Traits: Human, blue eyes with double black pupils, platinum blonde hair, 160 cm tall, age (still a secret) Hobbies: Magic research, collecting relics and artifacts, dungeon and ruin exploration Weapons & Gear: Ancient relic dagger, twin-arrow crossbow, enchanted bag, lantern, and beacon Lynn's Magic: Mystic Spells Basic: Tremor, Stone Bullet, Gust, Ignite, Flame Arrow, Surge, Freeze, Ice Lance, Iron Chain Intermediate: Waterjet, Obelisk Advanced: Glacier, Avalanche Divine Blessings: Heal, Aegis, Barrier Combat Skills: Pierce, Search --- Arezu – The Drama "Queen" Next is our laid-back warrior, Arezu. In this arc, he patiently puts up with all of Lynn's antics—and everything else about her. Why? If you caught the hint in the latter part of the arc, Lynn—or more specifically, her eccentric eyes—remind Arezu of someone precious from his past. We also learn that Arezu has a different fighting style besides his signature halberd-axe. Why he refuses to use swordsmanship until the very end—when he chooses to fight again for Lynn's sake—is something I'll keep secret for now. For now, know this: Arezu has a very complicated and tragic past, making him the Drama Queen of this arc. Arezu's Profile (as of the Orc-Hunting Quest Arc): Name: Arezu Class: Copper-Rank Warrior Adventurer Personality: Laid-back, timid, calm, easygoing Traits: Human, gray eyes, brownish-gray hair, 185 cm tall, age 20 Weapons & Gear: Halberd-axe, dagger, black leather armor, arm and knee guards Arezu's Combat Skills: Basic: Cleave, Shatter, Reinforce Advanced: Gale, Shockwave, Fortress Hobbies: Cooking, cleaning, training, camping --- Concept of Magic As Lynn explained to Arezu in the previous goblin-slaying quest, here's a breakdown of how magic works in the story: Mystic Spells are divided into three levels: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced. They primarily consume mana, with minor stamina use. Combat Skills fall into two levels: Basic (e.g., Cleave) and Advanced (e.g., Gale). These primarily consume stamina, with minor mana use. Divine Blessings don't have levels. Their effectiveness depends entirely on the caster's faith in the goddess Isleen. They consume neither mana nor stamina—but instead place physical strain on the caster. After all, mortals aren't meant to use divine power. --- Supporting Characters (Quick Remarks) Sylvia – The classic serious and sharp-eyed elven receptionist. As head of the guild's Research and Investigation Department, she's often in charge of Lynn and Arezu's quests. Broc – The stereotypical dwarf blacksmith. But he won't be crafting Arezu's weapon—his apprentice will. Why? You'll find out soon. Marionette – The mature, sexy female character. "Marionette" is her real name, not a nickname. She's a curse researcher who collaborates with Lynn and the guild. Gwen – The Heroine! Inspired by Medusa (Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel) and visually based on Yor (Spy x Family), Gwen once had long obsidian-black hair down to her waist—but it was cut to shoulder-length after an ambush from the strange evolved goblin. Minions – No, I didn't name them that out of laziness! It relates to Gwen's divine gift: Resonance. Giving someone the title "Minion" activates this power—but its duration at its full strength is quite short. Rust – The buster-sword wielder. Despite his intimidating appearance, he's calm, gentle, and caring. Raven – A slender, long-haired archer. Picture the classic elegant elf archer—minus the elf ears and with midnight-blue hair. Blaze Von Asheren – A guy with a background mob character appearance with exceptional flame magic talent. All of them will return in a future arc—I promise. --- About the Orc-Hunting Quest Arc The twist behind this quest was simple: What if the true threat wasn't the Orcs—but the cursed weapons they wielded? Strange enough for a twist? This arc focused on developing Lynn and Arezu's dynamic, filled with mock romance and Lynn's relentless teasing. It showcased Lynn's strength and her title Lady Impaler, hinted at the power of her eccentric eyes, and gave a glimpse into Arezu's past and hidden strength. I hope the battles against the Wargs, Orcs, corrupted adventurers, and Rust's group helped demonstrate the party's strength—especially Lynn, Arezu, and of course, Gwen. Hopefully, the drama and playful romance between Arezu and Lynn kept things entertaining for you. --- Inspiration & Background This arc was inspired by two ideas: First: The Barren Hill of Abandoned Weapons The center of the uncharted Dungeon—a field of cursed weapons. Yes, this is a tribute to Archer's Noble Phantasm in the anime Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works. Even Arezu's memory lines... ...I'm the fool who cursed the world... ...With my body drenched in their blood, I stands alone where all are buried... ...With my hands weighed down by their deaths, I wielded a thousand blades... ...are homages to Archer's verse. Will Arezu gain a similar Noble Phantasm-like power? Maybe. So stay tuned. And don't forget what Lynn said: Arezu is like a Dungeon in human form. Second: The Curse of Pride The cursed weapons in this arc were corrupted by the Curse of Pride. As Lynn said, the Dungeon tied to this curse is long gone—but more explanation on that in the next arc. This concept was inspired by the Japanese light novel; Reincarnated as a Sword, specifically the sword Fanatix, which could brainwash its victims. In this arc, the cursed weapons transfer the skills of their previous wielders, along with the remaining prideful curse, compelling the new wielder to keep fighting endlessly. --- Final Thoughts This second arc was a bit shorter—just 21 chapters from prologue to epilogue (including the Archive recap)—but I'm sticking with this fast-paced format and will keep adding Afterword chapters at the end of every arc. That wraps up the Afterword for the Orc-Hunting Quest Arc! More simple quests and strange adventures await Arezu and Lynn. Please continue supporting the book by adding it to your collections, dropping power stones, subscribing, or sending gifts once the book is contracted. And don't worry—I still promise the first 100 chapters will remain free before we move to premium. That's my commitment—even if I haven't gotten a contract invitation from Webnovel yet. Seriously, what are the CEs even doing? Somebody send me that contract already! More chapters are on the way—so keep reading: Days of Dungeon: From Simple Quest to Strange Adventure
