The man was truly terrified by her.
If it were an adult acting like this, one might call them insane.
But listen, who was saying these things?
A seven-year-old girl! She wasn’t even as tall as his leg hair—how could this be right?
The effect was no less terrifying than any horror movie, scaring the researcher so badly he wet himself.
"The rejuvenation serum... the rejuvenation serum we developed at the institute!"
"The research lab... you can’t enter the research lab without proper identification!"
Ji Nian’s brow twitched.
"You people... really..."
She glanced meaningfully at the researcher on the ground.
Rejuvenation.
It sounded like such a beautiful word, but behind the so-called research lay the blood and tears of countless people.
It was a defiance of the laws of nature.
"Give me your ID card."
Ji Nian motioned for him to toss it over.
The researcher didn’t dare resist. He already felt like he had done too many evil deeds and was now facing a ghost.
Picking up the ID card from the ground, Ji Nian asked for the exact location of the lab.
Then she knocked him out to ensure he wouldn’t cause any trouble before continuing forward.
With her deceptive appearance and the deadly weapon in her hand, she cut through every obstacle in her path like a hot knife through butter.
She reached the lab without any issues.
Swiping the card to enter, Ji Nian walked into the core room of the lab.
Under the cold fluorescent lights, surrounded by incomprehensible instruments, she glanced around and bypassed the control panel, heading straight for the computer.
"It’s a shame I didn’t bring a USB drive. I could’ve copied everything."
All of it could serve as evidence.
However, it was unfortunate that the organization primarily operated overseas. Trying to bring them down with these charges would still be difficult.
Moreover, if the news got out, it might even give them more publicity. After all, some people wouldn’t care about the process—they’d only see the words "rejuvenation."
Thinking this, Ji Nian snorted coldly and continued to inspect the lab.
They had fled in such a hurry that many things were haphazardly left behind, creating a chaotic mess. Ji Nian had to carefully navigate through the clutter as she made her way deeper into the room.
Soon, she noticed a cage in the far corner, covered with a black cloth.
"Is that him?"
Ji Nian guessed it might be the weak-breathing child she had been imprisoned with earlier.
She squeezed her way toward the corner, trying to get closer to the cage.
Meanwhile—
The dwarf’s confession revealed:
Members of their organization were rigorously trained. If things went south, they would rather die with their enemies than leave any evidence behind.
If they felt cornered, they would detonate the bombs buried underground.
"Zhiliao, how’s it going on your end?"
Wei Yang’s voice came through the earpiece.
Dressed in black, her long hair tied into a sleek ponytail, Zhiliao responded.
"I’ve gone deep. I passed by earlier and disarmed a few bombs along the way."
She’d been out of the assassin business for so long, yet the bomb models were still the same as before.
How utterly boring...
The former head of an assassin organization thought to herself.
Wei Yang chuckled when he heard about the bombs.
"My brother just sent a message. He mentioned this. Using bombs? Who are they trying to scare? Such amateur tactics even made him laugh. He’s on his way here now."
"I’ve found the entrance location. I’ll send it to you."
"When we find Ji Nian... if my brother tries to spank her, try to stop him, will you?"
Zhiliao glanced at the map that had just come through and replied, "Got it."
Kids will be kids. It’s not like she did anything unforgivable. No need for a spanking.
And so.
The group guarding the base entrance, along with Tuka’s men, realized they were surrounded.
The leader shouted in outrage.
Raising the detonator in his hand, he yelled, "Dying for Science!"
Then, with a heroic expression, he pressed the button.
Nothing happened...
Wei Yang: "Hahahahaha! You idiot! Did you really think your little toy bombs would work? We disarmed them ages ago! Hahahaha!"
While they were stunned, Zhiliao silently slipped inside.
But before she could get far.
A powerful blast of air rushed out from the tunnel, followed by a deafening "boom."
It had exploded.
Inside.
Where Ji Nian was.
Wei Yang’s smile froze, his blood running cold.
The man who had just shouted "Dying for Science" now looked pale.
"F***, I made a mistake! It wasn’t this detonator!"
"Oh no, I’m still alive. How could my research be lost!"
