Chapter 979: Chapter 977 Attending the Hall
The government officials were about to escort the Tian family to the Yamen. The onlookers, not willing to miss such a commotion, followed along, crowding around as they headed to the Yamen.
Arriving at the main hall, Lv Wenguang was seated high under the plaque of "Justice And Fairness." Below him knelt Lady Huang and Dong Laosan.
The head of the government officials stepped forward to report: "Your Honor, except for Lady Fang, who is bedridden due to a miscarriage, the others from the Tian family have all been brought here."
Lv Wenguang nodded and signaled for the people to be brought up.
The head of the government officials gestured for his men to bring them in. He stepped forward and whispered everything that happened at the Tian family’s residence into the ear of the legal advisor sitting below.
The legal advisor, with his beady eyes blinking twice, nodded in acknowledgment.
The Tian family shopkeeper and his family were brought in. Seeing Lady Huang and Dong Laosan kneeling, they didn’t have time to speak before the officials pressed them to their knees.
Once kneeling, Zhang Qiuju and Tian Sihai began to shout their grievances.
Before Lv Wenguang could speak, Lady Huang couldn’t hold back and sneered at the Tian family: "Shopkeeper Tian, look at who I am?"
The Tian shopkeeper glanced up and immediately panicked, his face turning pale.
Zhang Qiuju blurted out in surprise: "Are you a human or a ghost?"
Lady Huang smiled eerily: "I am the wronged ghost of the Huang family, clawing up from below to seek revenge against my enemies! Shopkeeper Tian, you beast, you and that ungrateful beast Loo Zhiyi caused the deaths of twenty-three lives in my Huang family! Have you slept peacefully all these years?"
The Tian shopkeeper barely held his composure, but Zhang Qiuju screamed and hid behind the shopkeeper, mumbling, "It’s not my business! It’s not my business! If you want revenge, find that bastard Shopkeeper Tian! Leave me out of it!"
The Tian shopkeeper almost fainted, brutally pinching Zhang Qiuju: "Are you dazed with fear? If you can’t speak, then hold your tongue!"
Then he kowtowed to Lv Wenguang, who sat steadily above, and said, "Your Honor, please discern the truth! Years ago, I was a close friend to the Huang family; we even did business together. Our relations were good. The tragedy that befell the Huang family upset me greatly. I even helped handle the Huang family’s affairs with the Loo Family. Their graves have never lacked offerings over the years."
"Anyone can vouch for this; I dare not conceal anything. Moreover, everyone in the Huang family died that year, and no one has ever been heard to have survived. It’s been over a decade, and suddenly someone claims to be from the Huang family. I suspect that someone has ulterior motives and is targeting me intentionally!"
The Tian shopkeeper, a sly old fox, calmed down quickly and even countered with an accusation.
Lv Wenguang glanced at the Tian shopkeeper, then at Lady Huang, before banging the gavel: "Bring in the witness—"
From outside the door, a hunched figure slowly walked in.
After kowtowing to Lv Wenguang, he cupped his hands at the Tian shopkeeper: "Shopkeeper Tian, long time no see—"
The Tian shopkeeper nearly jumped up as if he’d seen the unimaginable: "How is it you—"

Song Family Courtyard.
Old Granny Wu animatedly shared the gossip she heard outside the Tian family’s door with Wang Yongzhu and Old Granny Zhang.
Old Madam Ding and Gu Yu were also present, busying themselves with needlework while they listened.
When they heard Tian Sihai claiming that the shopkeeper Tian and Lady Fang had cuckolded him, Old Granny Zhang spewed a mouthful of tea all over Gu Yu.
Gu Yu accidentally stabbed his own leg with the needle in his hand, letting out an "ow" and jumped up, kicking over Old Madam Ding’s basket of sewing supplies.
Old Madam Ding’s scissors snipped a pair of insoles she was making clean in half.
Even Wang Yongzhu couldn’t help but dig into his ear: "What?"
Old Granny Wu was about to speak, but Old Granny Zhang stopped her: "Let’s not listen to such dirty gossip and pollute our ears!"
But Wang Yongzhu shook his head: "This doesn’t make sense. Lady Fang isn’t foolish. It’s clear that the Tian family’s future belongs to Tian Sihai. She’s destined to be the mistress of the Tian family. As long as she has children, her position will be secure. Why would she get involved with Shopkeeper Tian? Especially if they really were involved and even had a child together, why would she abort it?"
This doesn’t add up.
With Wang Yongzhu’s words, Old Granny Zhang paused, thought for a moment, and shook her head: "There must be something more here. Even if Shopkeeper Tian wanted to have children, he’s got so many women outside; he wouldn’t need to mess with his daughter-in-law. Besides, no man would willing put a cuckold on his own head, right? Unless Tian’s second son has gone mad, he wouldn’t do such a thing!"
Old Granny Zhang didn’t know, Tian Sihai wasn’t mad, but he suffered from overly imaginative thoughts.
As they say, "the spectator sees clearer"; outsiders could see the oddities, but Tian Sihai couldn’t.
Upon hearing that Shopkeeper Tian finally requested the doctors from Peace Clinic to examine Lady Fang, Wang Yongzhu’s eyes lit up. Tomorrow he must pester his master to visit Uncle Qin’s Peace Clinic and meet his fellow apprentices.
Just as they were speaking, Song Chongjin returned, and everyone immediately fell silent. Old Granny Wu and the others quickly tidied up and went to prepare a meal.
Song Chongjin sat down, and Old Granny Zhang asked: "Well? Did the Tian family confess?"
Today, with Lady Huang recounting the grievances of the Huang family, every word was filled with blood and tears, making people feel sympathetic.
Lady Huang had no other requests than for Song Chongjin to help submit the petition.
Over the years, they initially hadn’t found any evidence. In the beginning, the Tian and Loo families had guarded against it. They once attempted to file a lawsuit, but even before they got back home, they were almost abducted, bundled into a sack.
They realized the Tian and Loo families had anticipated this, bribing people below to report any news about the Huang family.
For years, Lady Huang was on the run, living in fear, until she had no choice but to hide her identity, burying her hatred deep inside, marrying and having children like an ordinary woman to evade the Tian and Loo families investigation.
As time passed, the matter was gradually forgotten, but Lady Huang never dared forget her vengeance. She diligently followed every clue, hoping to find evidence.
Heaven rewards the determined, and she finally found it, but she was also afraid.
The evidence was hard-won. If it fell into the Tian family’s hands, she feared she’d never have another chance for revenge in this life.
Until Xiao Wu discovered Wang Yongzhu, they saw hope.
Wang Yongzhu looked at Lady Huang, sighed, and nodded, helping her up: "Are you sure the evidence is conclusive? You must know that suing the Tian family is one thing, but you’re also accusing the Loo family, and their person was once a graduate. You’re suing an official, and that means fifty strokes. Are you sure?"
