Although Zhang Menglong was young and used to fooling around, when he got serious, the confidence his family background bestowed upon him made him exceedingly dominant, exuding an air of a superior.
This direct challenge had intimidated those fiercely debating foreign shareholders just moments ago.
Standing behind Zhang Menglong, Xu Huan's expression was priceless. When Zhang Menglong had kicked open the door, he had not had the time to stop him, mainly because he had not anticipated that Zhang Menglong would do so.
The former chairman of Silicon Moonlight had lost his temper before, but those truly cunning ones often didn't show their emotions, as they had too much to consider.
But Zhang Menglong had no such concerns. He did whatever he wanted. If he was in a bad mood and felt like kicking the door, he would just kick it. After all, this was his company and he didn't care about potential negative impacts at all.
"This kid's character is exactly like that bastard Zhang Xiaoyun!" Liu Qian and her assistant quietly moved behind Zhang Menglong. "But I like it!"
"Who are you?" a skinny foreigner with broken Chinese asked, "This is the chairman's office. Is this a place you can just barge into?"@@@@
After he spoke, he glanced at Xu Huan, "Xu Huan, do you not want to work here anymore? The chairman has just resigned and you let all sorts of riffraff in?"
"Oh, so it was you, the dog that was barking inside," Zhang Menglong laughed, "Infelite, right? Good, I've got you noted."
Zhang Menglong merely glanced at him and then ignored him altogether.
"Who else was speaking ill of the people from Huaxia just now?" Zhang Menglong continued to question, "What's the matter, all mute now? Weren't you all quite lively just a moment ago? Why don't you continue?"
Zhang Menglong didn't speak in Chinese because most present were foreign shareholders, and nearly all came from English-speaking countries. If he continued in Chinese, they might not understand him.
"Who are you exactly? Please leave immediately, or we'll call security!" This time, a Huaxia person spoke. Zhang Menglong recognized his voice—it was that shareholder referred to as Gao Feng just a while back.
"Oh, right, my apologies, I forgot," Zhang Menglong's face showed no hint of regret, "let me introduce myself. I am Zhang Menglong, the new chairman of Silicon Moonlight!"
Everyone was startled. Zhang Menglong was unbelievably young, although they all knew a new chairman was taking office today, they had never imagined it would be Zhang Menglong.
Zhang Menglong remembered that he was the one who had just voiced an objection, so Zhang Menglong had a very good impression of him. He smiled at Xu Songhai, who smiled back. Sometimes, men's friendship only needed a common goal; age and other details were trivial.
"Oh, right," Zhang Menglong continued, "I've already made my stance clear. Now, I've gone against the interests of most of you, you can impeach me now!"
"Director Zhang, you now own 52% of the shares of Silicon Moonlight, making you the largest shareholder. According to the company's charter, you have veto power over all company affairs, and no one has the right to impeach you."
"Well said!" Zhang Menglong liked employees with such insight, "Starting tomorrow, your salary will be doubled!"
A flicker of joy crossed Xu Huan's face, but then it faded. What did a salary increase matter? How long could the company keep going?
"You hear that?" Zhang Menglong shrugged, "It's not that I don't give you a chance, it's just that the strength simply doesn't allow it!"
After those words, the shareholders who hoped that Silicon Moonlight would comply with the Westerners' demands all turned gloomy. It seemed Zhang Menglong was set on refusing to cooperate.
"Mr. Zhang, haven't you considered the consequences?" one shareholder said, "If foreign countries stop providing us with Crystal Chips, our company would basically be crippled. Those low-end chip orders, let alone making a profit, we wouldn't even break even."
"Yeah, if we don't lay off staff, our annual labor and equipment costs are around 5 billion US dollars. The total of our low-end orders each year doesn't even reach 2 billion US dollars, that's a loss of 3 billion US dollars!"
"I have money, I don't care about losing money," Zhang Menglong countered, "I spend more than 3 billion US dollars on maintaining a dog!"
"But we care!"
The shareholders' faces turned even uglier. Unlike employees who still got their salaries whether Zhang Menglong cared about losses or not, shareholders were different. They relied on the company's dividends; if the company was not profitable, they wouldn't receive a cent.
Plus, this dog joke was getting old. What was it with Zhang Menglong and dogs? He brought them up constantly!
"Whether you care or not, it's none of my business!" Zhang Menglong sneered.
"What do you think, are you angered?" Zhang Menglong provocatively said, "I am the largest shareholder. I make the key decisions in the company. I just love seeing the look on your faces, annoyed yet unable to do anything about it!"
