"Mr. Zhang, don't joke about this, how could it be possible?" Gu Yuanwu glanced at Wang Cai and then showed a helpless expression. Not to mention a puppy, even a person like Zhang Menglong would most likely drop dead after taking it.
"I swear!" Zhang Menglong raised his right palm, "If I just told even half a lie, I would go straight ahead and eat all the gold in my gold mine!"
"Wow, even swearing has to be flashy!" Lei Jun complained to himself.
"Really?" Gu Yuanwu still couldn't believe it.
"Truer than true gold!" Zhang Menglong confirmed.
"May I take a look at that dog?" Gu Yuanwu asked.
"Of course!"
Seemingly aware of a very powerful person approaching, Wang Cai, who had already been dozy, suddenly became alert and showed a snarling face to Gu Yuanwu. Stay connected via My Virtual Library Empire
Gu Yuanwu was taken aback. At that moment, he actually felt a faint energy fluctuation brewing within the dog's body! He had felt this kind of fluctuation before; it was the energy that natural awakeners exhibit when they have not fully harnessed their hidden powers and undergo a surge of intense emotions.
This observation confirmed that this dog was indeed not just any ordinary dog!
"This dog..." Gu Yuanwu couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time.
Since receiving the news a week ago, superpowers around the world had been engaging in intense and orderly preparations, pooling funds, arranging personnel, all to devise ways to obtain that immortal pill.@@@@
But who could have imagined, not a single country was able to secure the immortal pill, and in the end, a dog ate it!
If Zhang Menglong wasn't standing by, Gu Yuanwu would be furious enough to kill Wang Cai on the spot!
This was an immortal pill that could create a martial artist or an awakener who surpassed level nine. If they had it, Huaxia's number of powerful individuals could instantly rise to the top in the world. From then on, Huaxia would undoubtedly become the unrivaled number one in the world, with no force ever threatening to invade.
Who would have thought that this treasure would end up being consumed by a dog—how could anyone bear this?
"Captain Gu, little Wang Cai doesn't know any better, don't be angry, okay?" Zhang Menglong said with a laugh, "It's just an immortal pill worth over a hundred billion Euros, just for extending life, not true immortality. After all, every human has to die, whether heavier than Mount Tai or lighter than a feather, we all face death sooner or later!"
"But the effects of this thing aren't just for extending life!" Gu Yuanwu was on the verge of tears. If there was a way, he would even want to take Wang Cai back and try to recreate the immortal pill using the alchemy furnace.
"What other effects does it have?" Zhang Menglong feigned ignorance, "Can it also fortify the foundation and rejuvenate a man's vigor? If that's the case, I really don't need it, I'm already strong enough."
"Well then," Gu Yuanwu sighed. In truth, he could begrudgingly accept this outcome.
"When the time comes, it'll be a matter of skill, but don't blame us if the fists and feet show no mercy."
"The feeling's mutual!"
The people around whispered to one another as if getting the Immortal Pill from Zhang Menglong's hands was as easy as reaching into a bag.
...
"Alright, time for us to head back!" Zhang Menglong stretched lazily. They'd had their fun, and in a few days, it would be New Year's Eve. Although Zhang Menglong and Lu Yiyao didn't have any relatives, such festivals are always to be spent in one's hometown.
The aircraft carrier bought by Zhang Menglong was currently docked near the Atlantic Ocean due to its size. It would take about a month to return to Huaxia. Zhang Menglong had no time to waste and immediately arranged for the crew to steer the ship back to Huaxia.
After packing up their belongings, the group returned to the destroyer, with Wang Cai trotting behind them like a little sidekick.
"Set sail, back to port!" Zhang Menglong ordered.
The destroyer cut through the waves, and at its speed, it would take about two hours to return to the port from where they set off.
"Strange, why haven't we seen a single ship along the way?" Wang Ling and the others looked out over the boundless Mediterranean from the deck, recalling that when they departed, there should have been a considerable amount of traffic in the vicinity.
"Look, what is that?" Just then, Wang Ling pointed towards the distance.
"What thing?" Zhang Menglong looked in that direction and saw three huge white trails approaching them at an unimaginable speed.
"Sharks? No, how could a shark be that fast?" Wang Ling guessed it seemed to be the wake left by a special type of watercraft zooming by at high speed.
In a matter of seconds, the streams of water had reached them. With a splash, three figures shot out from the water and landed in front of Zhang Menglong.
"Crackling!" Without warning, the surface of the sea began to freeze over. The destroyer, amid a shaking motion, came to a halt in the water. Although the propellers roared loudly, the ship was unable to move.
"What... what is this situation?" Wang Ling and the others were terrified, their faces pale. They had never witnessed such a bizarre scene before. All of it seemed just like magic.
At that moment, several more figures appeared eerily on the deck and on the ice. Including the first three, there were now a total of 14.
"Mr. Zhang, I told you we would meet," the blond man said with a smile. "Oh, let me introduce myself. My name is Shels, from America."
"Oh! I remember your voice!" Zhang Menglong nodded, recognizing the voice that had come from the VIP room of that American family the day before.
Zhang Menglong showed an expression of inevitability and said casually, "Well, look who's here, bro!"
