"I need you to do something for me," I say, my voice calm but deliberate. "Consider it a research project—one that must remain strictly between you and me." A flicker of curiosity lights his gaze, his brow twitching slightly. "I’m listening." I allow myself a subtle smile. He’s trying to stay composed, but I can already see his mind turning, wondering what I could possibly want from him. "I need you to retrieve every piece of paperwork Damien has handled since the moment he became Alpha of this pack," I say smoothly. "Every single document." John stiffens. "But Luna, I—" "And I also need you to gather all the necessary information regarding divorce," I cut him off, my voice sharp as steel. My cold gaze locks onto his, unyielding, as my wolf stirs within me, stepping forward just enough to assert dominance. A silent warning. A test to see if he dares challenge me again. "Divorce? That’s..." I arch a brow, my expression unimpressed. "What?" My tone drips with quiet challenge, letting him know his disbelief is both unwelcome and misplaced. John hesitates, his lips pressing into a tight line before he finally speaks. "With all due respect, Luna, I don’t think I can do that without informing Alpha Damien." I barely suppress a scoff. His loyalty to Damien is admirable—pathetic, but admirable. Instead of answering right away, I let a slow, knowing smile curve my lips as I lean forward just enough for him to see the flicker of darkness in my eyes. My voice drops to a near growl. "When Alpha Damien is not here, you obey your Luna," I remind him smoothly. "And if you suddenly find my orders unreasonable, then perhaps you’d be better off rebelling all you like outside this pack. As a rogue." My wolf snarls, the deep, guttural sound curling in my throat like a warning. I can feel the shift in him—the slight tremor, the way his own beast recoils in submission. John swallows hard, his defiance crumbling like dry leaves underfoot. When he finally speaks, his voice is quieter, his tone properly subdued. "No. I will do it. I will handle it, Luna." "Good."
