Chapter 47: World‑Class Organization on the Wasteland

Sir Henry grinned, then displayed the item exchange list. Li Ye fixed his gaze and saw that all Level 2 Work Claws and Level 1 items had been exchanged, only 352 units of Level 1 Alloy remained, and just one Ore Vein Crystal. Resources like iron, wood, coal, and fuel were all at zero. Even ordinary items were completely gone. “These guys are ruthless!” he couldn’t help but curl the corner of his mouth. These exchange items weren’t even nearly enough for a whole city. The only relief for Li Ye was that the Storm Infantry Vehicle was opened for him alone; otherwise, it would’ve been gone too. Last night, a member of Convoy One had brought news. Two Mobile Cities had malicious intent and wanted to kill Sir Henry. That situation was understandable—after all, Sir Henry was a Wilderness BOSS. Killing him meant claiming all his exchange items and the regular Wilderness BOSS loot. But as usual, neutral monster convoys and towns were extremely powerful—let alone neutral Wilderness BOSSES. Convoy One had witnessed Sir Henry’s combat prowess firsthand. Sir Henry had astonishing defense and unbelievable speed, wielding a single wrench as his weapon. “Oh, I knew you bastards had ill intent!” he screamed, swinging his wrench as he charged forward. “I’ll show you my might right now!” He darted swiftly around the undercarriage of one Mobile City, removing all its wheels and tracks. Then he circled the deck a few times, dismantling the city’s armor, watchtower, cannons, and heavy machine guns down to the last bolt. By the time Sir Henry landed and applauded, the entire Mobile City lay in pieces on the ground. The other Mobile City met the same fate. ... Li Ye was completely dumbfounded. He finally understood why not even the Tarot Card Alliance dared to kill this neutral BOSS—it was truly someone you couldn’t mess with. With Sir Henry’s strength, they could kill him, but every battle would see several Mobile Cities torn apart into parts. Li Ye immediately had twenty‐three artworks brought forward and placed them before Sir Henry. When Sir Henry perked up, his ears raised, and he began appraising the artworks, Li Ye frowned as he examined one piece. “This is considered an artwork?” That piece was literally a banana taped to the wall. The banana was real, but so rotten from age it was barely recognizable. Among the artworks, the cheapest was a replica modern-era coin worth 30 Goblin Coins. The most expensive was a medieval impressionist oil painting worth 3,500 Goblin Coins. All in all, the 23 artworks sold for 12,535 Goblin Coins. “We’re still two thousand short,” Li Ye said, frowning. The competition had entered its final sprint. What made him anxious was that every place within dozens of miles had been thoroughly searched—going further would reduce search efficiency. At that moment, his Convoy Two returned. They had spent the night digging in a museum ruin and found a mummy buried in a coffin. Sir Henry immediately rushed over, ecstatic, and offered the maximum price of 5,000 Goblin Coins. Li Ye breathed a sigh of relief. Now, his Contribution Points had reached 31,163. He quickly exchanged for that Level 2 vehicle, and with the remaining points redeemed a Lava Crystal and 100 units of Level 1 Alloy. “This really was a huge gain!” he exclaimed, thrilled. While Li Ye admired the Storm Infantry Vehicle, Can‐Opener and the other two community heads appeared behind him. “We’ve fulfilled our duty. Now it’s your turn to pay our reward.” Can‐Opener said slowly. Seeing Li Ye’s empty hands, all three frowned. Li Ye met their gaze calmly. “My payment to you is one piece of intelligence.” “What?” “In about sixty or seventy days, the entire Wasteland Zone will be completely destroyed,” Li Ye said slowly. “You need to mobilize people, assemble convoys, and leave this area soon.” Amid their shocked and doubtful looks, he continued. “The north of the Wasteland Zone is a freshwater lake, covering 20%. Crossing that lake leads to Level 2 — the Eternal Night Zone.” “To the east lies a Mobile Maze covering 17%.” “To the west are mountains covering 21%; traversing west leads to the Level 1 Basin Zone, about a month’s travel.” “To the south lie the Rotting Lands and Thunder Canyon; heading south leads to the Level 1 Desert Zone.” As Li Ye laid out the intelligence detail by detail, the three community heads thought for a moment then nodded. For the entire community working a full day, this intelligence was well worth it. Besides, Li Ye also offered to process Level 1 items for them and provide Level 1 crop seeds for free. Li Ye had expected they’d have doubts, but was surprised they believed him so quickly. Guessing his thought, Can‐Opener said slowly: “Actually, rumors have already been circulating that the Wasteland Zone is about to be destroyed. People just didn’t know exactly when or the terrain layout.” “What?” Li Ye asked. “Who spread that information?” “The Apocalypse Sect.” Li Ye learned the name of this cult from the three. According to Can‐Opener, this sect was vast, with followers everywhere—a world‐class organization. And what they believed in was... the Wasteland God. Li Ye’s expression turned grave. It was the first time he’d heard of such a massive power. As for the Wasteland God... just the name told him these entities were not benevolent. At the same time, a huge question arose in his mind: How did the Apocalypse Sect learn this info? In the following time, the three communities lined up in long queues, handing over their collected metal and iron ore to the Tomorrow. They had Tomorrow process them into Level 1 weapons and off‐road vehicles they needed. The three heads then busily prepared convoys, took inventory of supplies, and planned to depart in two or three days. Their communities usually had vehicles—buses, vans, trucks—ordinary ones. Now with Tomorrow’s Level 1 off‐road vehicles and weapons, they had some security during evacuation. During this period, the three communities also brought sacks of flour for Tomorrow to process into instant cup noodles and whole‐wheat biscuits for long‐term storage and travel needs. After busily working for half a day, everything finally concluded. “Until we meet again.” Li Ye shook hands with each of the three heads. As he was about to leave, Can‐Opener hesitated a moment and then said: “It seems your Mobile City is sorely lacking in people?”
