For the Holy Spirit!" A group of artists scrambled to set up their easels in a flurry. Tenidas lifted a hoof again, taking another step forward. No words were needed, not even a single unnecessary gesture. The entire Golden Armor Knights retreated once more. "What are you doing? Attack them! There are only sixteen of them! So what if they’re Holy Knights? So what if there’s an Angel? Attack, I command you!" The King galloped back and forth on horseback amidst the army formation, whipping his soldiers mercilessly. Yet the soldiers, preferring the lashes, dared not take a single step forward! Count Caspar fell completely off his horse. Turning his head sharply, the King suddenly noticed that Lord Bishop had already dismounted. With reverence, the Bishop knelt on both knees in the direction of Gray and gently traced a cross over his chest with his hand. "What are you doing?" The King, horrified, galloped toward him. The Bishop stood up slowly, faced the King, and proclaimed in a thunderous voice, "This Knight comes bearing miracles and with the mandate of the Holy Spirit. This signifies that the war we are waging is an unjust war, a war unapproved by the Holy Spirit!" Everyone heard him clearly. "What nonsense are you spouting? I invited you here—how can you not take my side!" The King’s face twisted in rage. Ignoring the King’s fury, the aged Bishop inhaled deeply and roared at the King, "I now have every reason to suspect that the King has been bewitched by the forces of darkness! In the name of the Holy Spirit, I call upon all devout believers in the army to lay down their weapons! For the Holy Spirit, seize the King, who has been corrupted by darkness! End this unjust war!" His voice reverberated for all to hear. Everyone turned their attention to the standoff between the Bishop and the King, including Gray. The King turned ghostly pale. "You... how dare you..." Do you not yet realize whom you are fighting against?" A silence more profound than death fell across the scene, and every eye widened in shock. After a moment of stillness, the Priest in the crowd shouted, "It’s the Holy Spirit! You’re fighting against the Holy Spirit!" Breaking through the crowd, with all eyes upon him, the Priest crossed the arched bridge of the White City and sprinted across the plain with all his might. He reached Yilin’s side, picked up a weapon from the ground, and cried out, "They are fighting the Holy Spirit! For the Holy Spirit, I too will join the fight! I will guard the Holy Spirit! Guard my conscience!" His hands trembled, his legs buckled, but he gritted his teeth and stood protectively in front of Yilin. Yilin stared at him in disbelief, stunned. The wind blew lightly, causing her long hair to ripple gently in the breeze. "Protect the Holy Spirit—!" In the next instant, an earth-shaking roar erupted! A massive crowd of White City’s residents poured out, gathering beside Yilin. Be it the elderly, children, or women, they picked up weapons and stood defensively in front of her. Their eyes shone with resolute determination; their expressions were the epitome of unyielding courage! In that moment, death seemed no longer so terrifying. The scattered soldiers began to regroup, though the weapons now were insufficient. Even Shelley rushed into the crowd and gripped a weapon tightly, just like the others. The soldiers of the King’s Army watched in terror. Even the male Angel looked on, shaking his head and smiling wryly. "Is this a Knight’s tale or a sacred drama? Ha, who cares? Either way, it has already become perfect." "Did you all hear that? You are fighting against the Holy Spirit!" The Bishop questioned loudly. "Do you wish to declare war on the Holy Spirit?" "Forgive me, Your Majesty, I surrender." One of the King’s guards unsheathed his Longsword, cast it to the ground, and faced the King, saying, "I respect our oaths, but I cannot declare war on the Holy Spirit. No oath obligates me to commit acts contrary to divine principles." "You!" Before the King could finish, another, then a third, and a fourth followed—one after another, swords and shields were cast onto the ground. "I surrender." "I surrender as well." "Surrender." "I have sinned!" One of the King’s escort officials knelt on both knees, proclaiming loudly, "I knew His Majesty had dealings with the Blood Clan, yet I failed to report it! May the Holy Spirit forgive my sins!" "What nonsense are you spewing?" The King roared furiously. "If I am lying, may I be condemned to hell after death! May my family be forever denied the Holy Spirit’s blessings!" The escort official declared with resolute conviction, crossing his hands over his chest and bowing in reverence toward the Bishop. "You’re lying! You’re lying!" The King howled hysterically. "He’s not lying! I saw it too! His Majesty consorting with the Blood Clan!" Another escort official knelt and bowed deeply. The army descended into chaos. "So, the King truly has been corrupted by darkness?" "We are waging an unjust war..." "My God, are we declaring war on the Holy Spirit?" Eyes turned toward the King, filled with a mixture of shock and fury. The King stumbled backward step by step, until he collided with a shield behind him, finding no way to retreat further. He collapsed to the ground, his body trembling uncontrollably as he gazed around in sheer panic. The tide had turned. Moments later, he trembled faintly and slowly buried his face in his hands, weeping, his old tears flowing freely. "I... I only wanted to live... Is it wrong to want to keep living? I just wanted to survive..." He sobbed in front of everyone. More and more soldiers cast aside their weapons, the ripple even reaching the Golden Armor Knights at the front lines. The leader of the Golden Armor Knights stepped before Gray. Setting down his weapon, he knelt devoutly and said in reverence, "Respected Holy Knight, we apologize for our previous disrespect and deeply repent. Please forgive our recklessness and ignorance." Behind him, the members of the Golden Armor Knights knelt one after the other, until all had done so. "I... I won, didn’t I?" Gray murmured, seeming lost. "Yes. Though I don’t want to admit it, you won. You are now the greatest Knight in all of Isaac Kingdom. No, perhaps the greatest Knight on this entire continent," the Black Cat sighed. "Surrounded by Angels, I don’t even feel fear—maybe even a bit thrilled. Do you think I’m beyond saving?" Tenidas moved forward, carrying Gray step by step. The children on horseback followed closely behind. The Golden Armor Knights opened a path for Gray. Without resorting to violence, Gray led the children through the Golden Armor Knights’ defensive line. Everyone yielded to Gray, willingly prostrating themselves at his feet. Passing through the Golden Armor Knights, then through the King’s remaining forces, Gray finally reached the foot of the White City. The residents made way for him. Amidst the crowd, Shelley wept tears of joy. Tenidas strode step by step to Yilin. Gray dismounted. Their eyes met. No one could discern the expression on Gray’s face, but Yilin’s expression was plain for all to see. In that moment, the scene was as beautiful as a fairytale. Perhaps, the Knight before them had indeed stepped out of a fairytale. Otherwise, from where else could he possibly have come? At this moment, Yilin choked back tears, her face streaked with them. "I’m sorry, Yilin. I came too late. I failed to protect you well. Please forgive me." Gray pounded his chest plate heavily and knelt on one knee. The next moment, the heavens and earth erupted in a thunderous cheer. Even the male Angel, who had watched the entire conflict, couldn’t help but begin to applaud.
