"How would I know you’d let your father inside? Are you out of your mind? There’s a roaming Nine-Headed Hydra, and you actually let it inside? Even for werewolves, I enforce restrictions!" Adelle growled in a low voice. "So what now?" "How should I know? I’ve run out of excuses!" "If you run out of excuses, I might not be able to come and help you manage the castle anymore." "Is this castle mine? Why are you even interested in a castle like this?" "Shh! My father is coming back..." Indeed, Count Dracula was returning, flapping his wings as he landed in front of them and transformed back into his human form. His gaze toward Adelle had grown noticeably hostile, with anger flickering in his eyes. "Young Master Adelle, having my son help manage a castle like this for you doesn’t seem appropriate, does it? He’s only seventy-three! I’m starting to think I shouldn’t allow him to associate with you anymore." Jones was sweating bullets, as panicked as a cat on hot bricks. "Yes, do it now," Jones quickly chimed in agreement. Yet, at that very moment, another voice entered the scene. "What are you all talking about? Placing restrictions in my castle—or placing restrictions on me?" From the castle’s main entrance, nine snake heads emerged simultaneously, staring at them with blazing fury in their eyes. The blood clan members standing outside, including Count Dracula and Adelle, scrambled backward in terror. "Your castle?" Count Dracula was utterly stunned. Seeing the Nine-Headed Hydra’s heads rear slightly back as if about to attack, Jones quickly screamed out, "No, madam, it’s not like that!" Right after shouting this, Jones suddenly remembered his father was watching him from behind, hurriedly turning back to say, "Father, that’s exactly it!" Oh, and then he realized the Nine-Headed Hydra was still staring at him, so he quickly turned back to say, "Madam, really, it’s not like that!" "So, what is it like then?" the Nine-Headed Hydra and Count Dracula asked in nearly perfect unison. Adelle was already covering his face, utterly unsure of what to say, while Dora quietly stepped back with her head still lowered. The Hydra’s eyes were brimming with rage, and Count Dracula’s eyes carried the same fury. Both sets of eyes angrily focused on Jones. Standing between them, Jones appeared completely frozen. Silence, silence, and more silence. The wind gently passed through, brushing against green leaves with a soft rustling sound. Jones was sweating buckets, his facial expression twisting into something that looked like a mix between laughter and tears. After a brief silence, the first to speak was Adelle: "Brother, I truly can’t help you anymore. I’m out. See you another day!" Without waiting for Jones’s reply, Adelle transformed into a bat and flew away, his steward and blood clan guards quickly flapping their wings to follow suit. In the blink of an eye, the crowd of blood clan members outside the castle door was reduced to just Jones, Dora, and Count Dracula. Dora’s head was already lowered as far as it could go, while Count Dracula alternated between glaring at the Nine-Headed Hydra and his son with fury in his eyes. The Hydra itself warily eyed everyone. And then there was Jones—Jones was undoubtedly the most relaxed. He had completely slumped to the ground, his whole being defeated, his gaze vacantly staring off into the distance. After an extended period of silence, Jones looked up at the Hydra with a dejected face and pleaded, "Madam, can you leave this matter to me to handle personally? I assure you that I won’t infringe upon your interests. I’ve never infringed upon your interests—I keep the castle in great condition, prepare food for you, and even built toilets for you. You should trust me, right?" The Hydra’s nine heads quietly observed Jones for a long while before softly replying, "Alright, I trust you." After speaking, it shifted its gaze toward Count Dracula. "So, what exactly is happening here?!" Count Dracula roared angrily. What happens next? Jones wanted to make one last effort, but at this point, no matter what he said, Count Dracula likely wouldn’t believe him anymore. At this juncture, honesty might be the only way out. ... "Wait, will Jones be angry at me for just leaving like that?" Adelle muttered as he hovered mid-air, flapping his wings. His steward flapped his wings and replied, "He might be.
