"Besides, since Julian chose to aid the church, he has already aligned himself with them. The conflict between the church and Gray is not something we can intervene in." ... "Hahaha!" Levi laughed loudly. "Did I hear you right? Did you just say you want to kill someone? Does anyone here look like someone you can kill? Have your injuries even healed yet? Staring at Levi, Gray quietly said, "This is the choice you’ve made yourselves." With that, he spurred his horse forward. "Kill—!" came a guttural roar. Four Holy Knights charged at Gray simultaneously from four directions, their sanctified warhorses tearing across the ground at incredible speed. Yet, Tenidas was faster than all of them—like a tempest, so swift it was impossible to even track him. One moment Gray stood still; the next, he was mounted, appearing behind the Little Mustache Knight. The Little Mustache Knight turned his head in shock, staring at Gray. In the blur of motion, he saw his sword-wielding hand, his entire arm, along with the armor encasing it, severed so cleanly it flew skyward. And yet, not a single drop of blood stained Gray’s blade. The other three hadn’t even yet comprehended what had occurred. The Little Mustache Knight’s Guardian Angel froze. The other three Guardian Angels widened their eyes uniformly in disbelief. In the next instant, Gray had turned his horse toward the White-bearded Knight and was charging furiously. The White-bearded Knight hadn’t yet reacted. His Guardian Angel, however, rapidly cast multiple shields upon him. It was futile. Tenidas raised its hooves high; in but an instant, the sturdy shields shattered like glass. Gray thrust his longsword through the White-bearded Knight’s abdomen from behind, swiftly withdrew, and pivoted seamlessly to the Black-bearded Knight at his side, slicing cleanly through his arm as well. Only now did the pained screams of the Little Mustache Knight, who had fallen from his horse moments earlier, pierce the air. The White-bearded Knight stared dazedly at the blood seeping through his gut. The Black-bearded Knight collapsed from his steed with a dull thud. A ripple of dust radiated outward like waves. All of it—the entirety—had transpired in less than an instant, too swift for any ordinary eye to catch, like an illusion’s faint flicker. "Gray! Magnificent! Well done! Hahaha! Well done!" Vivian clapped ecstatically as though she were his biggest admirer. Everyone stood frozen—Levi, the four Guardian Angels, the soldiers surrounding Gray, Shelley suspended from her column, even Jones and Dora spectating from afar. Silence—dead, oppressive silence broken only by Vivian’s cheers, and the groans, cries, and wails of the three gravely injured Holy Knights. Gray circled his horse slowly, directing his sword toward each airborne Guardian Angel one by one. "Do not move—or I won’t guarantee your safety as you leave here." "What just happened? What did he do?" "Three Holy Knights defeated? He took down three Holy Knights at once?" "My God..." From the soldiers came faint murmurs, weak and tentative. They had already sensed something profound emanating from Gray. Gray advanced ever closer on horseback, Levi powerless to seek aid and consumed by terror, finally turning his own steed to flee. The soldiers scattered instantly, tossing their weapons aside, while Buck Town’s residents craned their heads eagerly forward. Gray persisted steadily, his horse moving forward. "Why not finish him off entirely?" the Black Cat murmured. Gray softly replied, "I don’t know... There’s something about seeing his fearful expression that intrigues me. Like a cat teasing a mouse." "Could it be the Demon Lord’s power influencing you?" "I don’t think so. Punishment is also a part of justice. Only when punishment is severe enough can justice truly be preserved." Passing by the trembling Julian, Gray whispered almost nonchalantly, "I’m quite interested in the Church Holy Knights’ selection criteria. Send me a copy when you return. Do you understand?" "Y-Yes..." Julian nodded vacantly. Gray kept moving forward on horseback. Vivian hoisted the Silver Moon Banner, cheering as she ran behind him, even sticking her tongue out at Julian as she passed. In the distance, Belinda sighed heavily. "This is likely their first time experiencing Demon Lord-level power. No wonder they’re scared out of their minds." Even Levi froze, bewildered, though in his desperation, he still clung tightly to Shelley, placing his blade against her throat and shouting, "Stay back! One more step and I’ll kill her!" Gray merely stared without the faintest movement. The sword in Levi’s hand dissolved, transforming into water—not melted, but literally turning into liquid. "Threatening innocent civilians to coerce a Holy Knight—another offense to add," Gray said quietly. "I wonder—how many sins can you commit? How many tenets of the faith can you betray?" "Don’t come any closer—!" Levi screamed frantically, nearly sobbing, as he tightened his grip around Shelley’s neck. But an invisible force intervened, seized his wrist, twisted it viciously. A loud "crack" rang out; his hand was broken, his entire being forced down to the ground. Tears, snot, saliva—streamed uncontrollably. "Gray—!" Shelley broke free and bolted straight toward Gray. Gray dismounted, caught her tightly in his arms. "I’m sorry I was late. I only woke up yesterday." "I knew you’d come to save us! I knew you would!" Clutching Gray’s chest, Shelley burst into loud, unreserved sobs, choking on her words. "I wanted you to come, but I was scared—you wouldn’t be able to beat them..." Gray held her closely, soothing her gently. A crowd of residents peeked out curiously from afar. The streets lay vacant, scattered with countless discarded weapons, occupied solely by Gray, Shelley, Vivian—and Levi sprawled, defeated, humiliated on the ground.
