Manaia ran desperately to activate the counterweight mechanism. With a thundering roar, the door began to rise and, with a loud thump..., it closed completely. Terrified of leaving Jax alone against all the enemies, Manaia ran to find the door so she could climb the battlement to, at the very least, heal him from a distance. When she finally reached the top, she was shocked by what she saw.
Hearing that the door had been closed, I let out a sigh of relief and checked my enemies.
[Demon Fighter Lvl 35]
[Demon Commander Lvl 45]
[Demon General Lvl 55]
"It seems they went up ten levels when we moved up a round... I wonder if they’ll go up indefinitely."
[Jax Lvl 38]
"This is going to be a fun battle..."
With a roar, the giant Demon General ordered his troops to advance. I also took the opportunity to throw myself against them like an arrow. I started dodging the attacks, killing all the demon fighters that got in my way, but instead of holding my position and continuing to annihilate them head-on, I decided to advance toward the center, dodging the demon commanders. Seeing me dodge them, the commanders lunged at me trying to stop me; however, due to their large size, they were too slow to stop me. I kept running until I reached the Demon General who was in the center of the formation.
At that moment, I activated my divine ability [Sanctuary of Life] and some of my profession’s abilities.
[Battle Cry]
[Time Delay]
[Rhythmic Lunar Pulse]
Everything around me was slowed down by [Time Delay]. Time itself seemed to stall. I could even see the grass falling more slowly. In addition, the [Rhythmic Lunar Pulse] made my enemies even slower and more unstable, as their muscles were confused by invisible waves. My battle cry resonated, increasing my stats by 15%, and the gray light spread once more as it began to burn all the demons within it.
I launched my attack against the General, who, despite everything, reacted quickly and managed to block my sword. The level difference was so great that I couldn’t make him completely lose his combat ability. Screams echoed around me as the demons, blinded by rage, rushed toward me.
[Sanctuary of Life has leveled up to Lvl 2.]
The sanctuary’s previously gray light turned a bluish color. The demons now began to suffer more quickly, and it was visible how their bodies seemed to dissolve in the air, leaving only black ashes on the ground. All the demon fighters around me were killed mercilessly in seconds, while the commanders lasted only a little longer before falling like ashes to the ground.
Now it was just the Demon General and me, staring at each other. His powerful body was the only one that seemed not to be affected too much by the divine blessing. The Demon General roared furiously and lunged with his giant axe at me, swinging it from side to side, causing the sound of the wind to make the hairs on my body stand on end from the sensation of danger.
Our blows resonated with great intensity. It was a brutal exchange of attacks. The General was an unstoppable force. He swung his enormous axe, and I barely managed to dodge, feeling the powerful, icy breeze of the blows pass millimeters from my body. His blows were slow, but they had a titanic force that made the ground tremble. I tried to attack his flanks, but his thick armor was impenetrable. Each of my blows was deflected by his giant axe or bounced off his armor. I had to find a weak point, and fast.
That’s when I saw it: his eyes. They were the only points on his body that weren’t protected. It was my only chance. I let his giant axe get close, purposefully allowing it to hit me, tearing off my left arm, in exchange for piercing the Demon General’s eye. The sanctuary healed me, my arm reattached, I moved it and looked at the General, who was now looking at me with fear. I ran and plunged my sword into his other eye, now sacrificing a leg, but this time I knocked the giant down and continued to stab him until he died.
All the corpses began to be absorbed by the ground, clearing the battlefield. I took a deep breath and was just about to sit down when the notification appeared.
[Round 11..]
Without giving me time to rest, round eleven continued. The numbers increased again. Now there were 2,000 Demon Fighters, 200 Demon Commanders, and a Demon General. The fight resumed immediately, the black tide ran towards me like last time. I started again to kill one after another. The Demon Commanders and Fighters kept falling like flies thanks to the sanctuary of life, but the General was still difficult. I kept using my tactic of sacrificing parts of my body in exchange for piercing the General’s eyes. As soon as I managed to finish him off, the next round appeared.
Now there were 3,000 Fighters, 300 Commanders, and a General. The numbers were increasing and my range was no longer enough to finish them off so quickly. Their level remained stable and the amount of experience they gave poured down like an endless flood. I didn’t even have time to check for new abilities or even see my level, I could only keep moving my sword to finish them off as fast as I could. I couldn’t allow them to flee to the castle, there was no way they could survive this tide from hell.
No matter how much I tried to attack without rest, this time I didn’t manage to kill the General when the next round appeared. The demons still looked like moths drawn to a fire, dying one after another without knowing fear or pain. Round after round, the enemies piled up until they were practically uncountable. I could no longer sweep my enemies, as there were so many of them that the range of the [Sanctuary of Life] was too small to annihilate them all.
In front of me, there were six generals attacking me with all their might, but a notification changed the course of the battle.
