Chapter 11: Bottom Of The List?

Everyone had heard of Amber Frost, the infamous Demoness Head of the Combat Department. Her name was a legend even in other Academies. But until now, few had known her actual rank. Tier 11. That made her the third strongest person in the entire Academy, right behind the Headmistress and Vice Headmistress. Even Leon was stunned for a moment. ’Just this woman alone is stronger than the current strongest man on the planet.’ As he stared at the professor, a strange glint passed through his eyes as he remembered a detail but didn’t think too much of it. "Now that that is out of the way, I’m asking some of you to leave this class while I’m being polite," Amber spoke calmly. "I don’t plan to teach basics or survival. I will make true devils who can defend and kill for this world. And power comes at the cost of pain and mental health." She paused, letting the words linger in everyone’s hearts, and then continued. "I will not hesitate to use any means necessary to make those devils, so you only have this chance to leave while you can. If you choose to stay, then you are signing a contract with me that will state that neither the Academy nor I will be responsible for your life and death." A devilish grin formed on her face as she said, "And I will make sure that contract comes into use." A powerful, chilling aura leaked out of her for just a moment, but it was enough to scare the shit out of the majority of the students present there. They didn’t even think twice before running toward the exit. They had come to learn the basics of combat so they could fight if they were stuck in a dire situation. But it was clear they wouldn’t get that in Amber’s classes. She was known as the Demoness for a reason. Not only was she ruthless towards her enemies, but also towards herself and her students. Her training was so hellish that it had broken many students in the past. She would have been fired from the Academy, but she had produced many top-tier powerhouses of the world, so the Academy knew her worth. They acknowledged that while her training was... brutal, the results were undeniably excellent. Now that she herself was saying that she would have them go through her hellish training, who in their right mind would stay there? Well, there were some people who were ready to go through hell to become stronger. Silver turned to look at her sides, and her eyes widened in shock. She pushed Leon, whispering, "Why are you still here?" "Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing," Leon said with a smile, which quickly froze Silver. "I am joining her classes too, and I’ve decided it, so there’s no point in saying anything more." Silver opened her mouth to convince him, but the words stuck in her throat. She was aware of his stubborn nature, so she knew convincing him was out of the question. She just grumbled to herself before saying, "Then, make sure you don’t fail. I want to explore the Primordial Expanse with you." She had always wanted this, but knowing the dangers in the Primordial Expanse, she never told Leon because she wanted to keep him safe in the Real World. But now that he had chosen to tread this path himself, she was happy and worried at the same time. Her eyes flashed with determination as she thought, ’It doesn’t matter. I just need to train even harder and make sure he’s safe. I’ll protect him.’ Leon could see through her thoughts, which put a smile on his face as he teased, "You will be the first of us to give up and fail." "As if I will ever break," Silver snorted and turned her head to face the professor. By then, the lecture hall had become so empty that they could see each other very clearly. Only around 60 students of those hundreds remained, and out of those, there were only two boys. Leon turned to look at the only man other than him in the hall and thought, ’So it’s him. Nothing surprising if it’s him.’ "Good! Now that cowards won’t waste our time, we can start our classes." Amber smiled as she began to clap. "Before that, let’s give a round of applause for the two brave young men who stayed. It’s been a while since I’ve trained any man, so look forward to it." Everyone began to clap as they were also happy to have the company of two handsome men. They felt that it would boost their motivation to work harder. "Don’t think I would go easy on you because of that though," Amber chuckled. "I treat everyone equally because everyone has the potential to kill me, and you should have this thinking too. Never underestimate anyone, not even an ant." Everyone nodded in understanding. This was the most basic thing they were taught, though many people slowly began to forget it. "First of all, all of you will enter the F-Rank Flame Knight Dungeon on 10th January, and I’ll accompany you," Amber said, surprising everyone as they weren’t supposed to enter any dungeon until very late in second year. "There is no better teacher than world itself, and the best way you will learn to fight true battles is by going through them," she continued. "You have five days to prepare for it. I’m looking forward to seeing what you have learned in the last one year." Then, she smiled at everyone and commanded, "Now, I would like to see how everyone is doing, so use the tablet to check your levels." Everyone was familiar with the way to check their levels, so they each held their tablet and let it scan their bodies. It was a system developed by many top-tier engineers to have accurate data of everyone’s power levels. The students were also given AI bracelets later on, which allowed them to check on their status anytime and anywhere they wanted. But it was kept secret so as to protect everyone’s privacy, so Amber had to use this method to know everyone’s true level. Soon, the screen behind lit up and showed the power levels of every student in the classroom. Sitting at the top was a famous name.
