Chapter 17: An Adventurer now

Chapter 17: An Adventurer now Luke and Noah were standing in front of the second largest building in the whole city, the adventurers guild. The doors were rectangular in shape and wide enough for almost ten people to pass through at the same time. "Let’s get you registered." Noah called Luke as he stopped on the middle of the stairs and Luke was still standing below, lost in observing the surrounding. He nodded and followed Noah inside. passing through the door, they were greeted with a wide hall. At one end of the hall was the rest zone for the adventurers where many of them were seated and some were laughing and quarrelling among themselves. Some were seated alone while some were in teams discussing their plan of action, and not a single space in that area was empty. On the other end was the mission board. It covered almost the whole board, sorted according to the level and difficulty of the missions. At the start of the board, the crowd was unimaginable while as the board stretched further, the number of people decreased in large quantities and at the furthest end, not a single soul was present, as they were the SS rank missions, which were open for just a handful of adventurers. In the middle was the reception desk, a young lady was present, going through some documents placed on the desk. Noah took Luke to this young lady, explaining everything about the guild to Luke along the way. "Hello! I’m Mia! Your guide in the guild. How may I help you?" The young lady said in her formal business manner as she saw both Noah and Luke approach. "Are you new? Where is miss Ava?" Noah asked. "She has transferred to a different branch last month! I am her replacement!" "Oh! My friend here wanted to register as an adventurer." Noah said pointing towards Luke. "Alright! There’s nothing much. Please fill this form here." Mia said as she handed a form to Luke. Luke took the form from her and used the brush at the desk to fill it. He just had to fill his name, age, place of origin, current address and some other basic details along with magic affinity. Noah had told him about this earlier. Though every mage is born with a circle, the affinity of every individual is different. Though one can use spells of all the affinity types, one is only aligned towards one or two affinities and progress in that path. Though Luke couldn’t use magic, when he uses limit break, his fists burn with flames, so Noah suggested him to fill his affinity as Fire. Luke then filled the whole form and passed it to Mia. "You can now put your hand on this crystal ball." She took the form and pulled out a round crystal from below and asked Luke to put his hand over it. It was a mana measuring instrument. It gives information about the cultivation level, that is the number of circles one has, and the amount of mana. Luke placed his hand above the crystal and the insides of it started swirling like smoke. Slowly the smoke started changing color and it turned blue. "Oh! second circle and almost about to reach third!" Mia said with praise. Luke was a bit surprised as he was a bit skeptical about how the crystal would react since he didn’t use mana but prana, and he didn’t have a circle in his heart anymore. But seeing the result, he sighed in relief and also a bit surprised to be evaluated as a second circle. She put the crystal away and along with the form, went inside another room behind her, which was just beside the staircase to the upper floors. After a few minutes, she came out with a round object in her hand. It was an iron plate with some letters engraved on it. "Congratulations! You are an adventurer now! you’ll be starting as an E rank and get this copper ID plate!" Mia said as she handed the plate to Luke. He took the plate from her. The plate was very basic with a big E engraved on it in bold and his name was beside it with a small fire symbol below. "Congrats Luke!" Noah said with a smile. "Thanks man! We should take a mission then! let’s start our journey as a team as soon as we can!" Luke said excitedly as Noah nodded and both of them moved towards the mission board. "I didn’t ask, but what rank are you, Noah?" "Me? I’m D rank. I haven’t been an adventurer for long, but long enough to be your teacher!" Noah said with a smirk. Luke laughed it off and started looking over the E rank mission board. There were not many missions that attracted him, they were mostly herb collection, transport guard duty and other miscellaneous missions like that. "Let’s take a D rank mission. Since I’m a D rank we can team up and take the mission." Noah suggested and both of them moved towards the D rank board. The D rank board was the most crowded of all the boards. There are a huge number of adventurers lined up for a mission, since this was the rank of missions that paid decent, involved more fighting but also was less dangerous. Noah skimmed through the board and stole a mission leaflet in front of the others and after struggling a bit came out of the crowd. "Let’s take this one!" Noah said as he handed the leaflet to Luke. CONTRIBUTION POINTS: 5000] Luke looked over the mission and was quite satisfied with it. Screelowa was a huge seven feet beast with a cat like body, elongated and protruded snake-like head and two long ears going back of the head with long fleshy whiskers and a long tail with a sharp and long sword like blade at its end. It was a killer class monster, which had a hunting requirement of third circle, and the two of them were enough to deal with it. Luke nodded in confirmation as both of them went to the reception desk and took the mission under their name and walked out of the guild on their way for the first hunt and adventure as a team.
