Chapter 15: Test(2) Luke got up groaning in pain. "Why does it hurt so much?" Luke yelled in pain. "I said I won’t use mana into my feet. I never said anything about the other parts!" Roger smirked. "You have to channel mana and protect yourself from the attack, so that you lessen the impact. That’s why I told you to take some time to adjust yourself." Luke got a ferrous taste in his mouth as he spit out the blood. He moved prana towards his feet and vanished from the spot again. He kept on punching from all the sides, not letting Roger to do much and just block the attacks. He appeared in front of Roger again and started hitting continuous punches on the shield. He evaded the halberd at times and kept on attacking. He vanished again and this time attacked Roger from the side. But Roger was ready and before the fist could even come close, the halberd hit Luke on his arm, throwing him off sliding along the ground again. He got up again, this time protecting his arm with prana. He steadied himself and looked towards Noah. "Thirty seconds left." Noah said. ’I have no choice left. I have to use that, or else I’ll lose!’ "Limit break!" Luke yelled out loud as the clothes at his back started burning up. The circular pattern engraved on his back started glowing amber and glowing runes along with the circle manifested out on his back. It started spinning rapidly, channeling prana from the surrounding into Luke’s body. His fists stared glowing up, and because of the heat it almost turned amber. A fire ignited and his fists got covered with amber flames. Both Noah and Roger were shocked at the scene. It was the first time they were seeing magic being casted on one’s own body. No matter whether the spell is casted by yourself or not, the fire created will burn your body definitely. But Luke seemed fine, it was like he had harnessed the fire and they are dancing on his fists at his tune. Luke lifted his burning fists up and bent his knees, and in an instant, vanished from his spot. Roger’s eyes opened wide in shock, this time even he couldn’t trace Luke. Before he could blink, Luke was in front of him again. The heat from the flames was hot enough for Roger to feel on his face. He lifted his shield in a hurry, and the fist hit squarely right on the center of the shield. BOOM! A loud noise spread in a wave as the fist hit the shield. The force from the punch pushed Roger’s shield back as it touched his face. He was straining to hold his ground. The heat from the flames was making him sweat and his body was burning up. "WAAHHHHHH!!" Luke screamed out as he put more force in his punch. Slowly Roger was being pushed back. Luke used the last of his strength as the flames on his fist burned brighter and prana rushed to his arm as he pushed the shield forward. Mana rushed to Roger’s feet as they sank under the soft ground. The shield stuck to his body; he was using all the force in is body to hold the shield in his place. Finally, the heat started to die down, the brightness of the flames dimmed and vanished completely. The runic circle behind Luke stopped spinning and sunk inside the engraved tattoo again and he fell on the ground with a thud, losing consciousness. "What...the hell...did his...ancestor...give him!? Roger gasped for breath as he blurted out the words in shock. Luke was lying flat on his chest on the ground. The back of this linen shirt had a round circular burned hole and the tattoo was visible on his back. Roger sighed and a smile crept on his face. He was shocked as well as happy seeing Luke’s strength. "Take him inside." Roger asked Noah. He nodded and moved towards Luke, picked him up on his shoulders and moved inside. The workers had stopped their work and were looking wide eyed at the fight. They were also shocked to see such intense fight and unknown spell that Luke used. Roger was about to put his shield back when he saw a protrusion on the back of the shield. He turned the shield around and was shocked at the scene. There was a depression of the fist mark, the heat had melted the steel and a fist impression had formed. "Hahaha! This bastard! Hahahahaha!!" ***** Luke slowly opened his eyes and saw the ceiling above him, realizing that he was lying down on the bed. "You awake?" Noah asked. He was sitting on the window pane opposite the bed. "You’re in my room. Your room is still being fixed." "What happened...to the...test?" Luke sat up, his body still in pain from the aftereffects of limit break and the hits from Roger. "You couldn’t move me out of the circle, obviously!" Roger said, sitting on the chair beside the bed. Luke was crestfallen. He struggled so much, but ultimately, he couldn’t clear the test. "What was that power you released at the end?" Noah asked. "It’s from the cultivation method! I don’t know what to call it, but it gives me a boost for a few seconds, moving my power level a few notches up!" "Don’t use it recklessly. After using it you become vulnerable. Save it till a life and death moment!" Roger warned in a serious tone. Luke nodded at his warning. "Also let me warn you! Your ancestor was right when he gave you those conditions. People might covet the power and the method of cultivation that you hold." Roger said. "Hide that power as much as you can, and never tell anyone about the technique that you hold. Keep this a secret between us. You too Noah!" "Yes uncle!" Noah replied. Luke nodded, he was still depressed about his loss, he wanted to be an adventurer with Noah. But now his uncle was about to force him into the military. "Remove that rotten expression from your face. I used mana on my feet, or else I would have flown away. It’s your win. Go! Be an adventurer!" Roger left those words as he walked out of the room. Luke and Noah looked at each other in shock, their lips parted immediately into a wide grin as they jumped and hugged each other, and started celebrating. A smile crept onto Roger’s face as he heard their cheerful celebration.
