Chapter 57 - CHAPTER 57 - Demanding the Marine Rokushiki

Words : 1191 Updated : Sep 29th, 2025
Rosen woke up after sleeping for half a day, feeling completely rejuvenated. Most of his wounds had healed, and even his fractured ribs seemed to be recovering at an astonishing rate. He was stunned. Was he just special, or were the people of this world naturally this resilient? It was hard to believe. "Boss, there was an unusual phenomenon in your room earlier. Strange photons seeped downward, carrying a strong healing effect and an intense stimulating energy," Robin reported as soon as Rosen opened the door. She and Valentine had been waiting outside. They were both curious about the phenomenon and eager to discuss the situation with Harry, the Rear Admiral, who had regained consciousness and was asking to see him. Rosen frowned. "What light?" He had no idea what they were talking about. Robin gestured at the bandages wrapped around his chest. "Like that, but much stronger." Looking down, Rosen was surprised to see faint glowing particles emerging from beneath the bandages. From a distance, they were barely noticeable, but up close, they were clearly visible. He also felt a warmth spreading through his chest. A bold idea struck him—was his body rapidly healing itself? But how? He ruled out several possibilities before his eyes suddenly lit up. Vitality. It had to be the Vitality x2 effect. That explained why, despite its seemingly greater difficulty compared to Speed x2, it hadn't significantly boosted his physical strength or Devil Fruit abilities. It activated when his body was recovering, enhancing cell activity and accelerating healing. But how had Robin and Valentine noticed it? "You're saying the effect was stronger while I was resting? And that it spread to the surrounding area?" Initially skeptical, Rosen reconsidered. There was no reason for Robin or Valentine to lie. If this ability triggered during rest, then perhaps it required a state of relaxation—or maybe it was connected to injury or severe exhaustion. He decided to test it. Letting go of his usual vigilance, Rosen completely relaxed his body and mind. Almost immediately, he felt a warm current coursing through him, especially around his wounds. A soft hum resonated as his chest emitted a faint white glow. The warmth intensified. After a while, the light dimmed, likely indicating that most of his wounds had healed. There was no doubt about it—this Vitality x2 was more than just a personal healing buff. It had a radius of effect and could actively accelerate regeneration. Rosen removed his bandages and pressed against the spot where his rib had fractured. Though slightly sore, the bone had already mended. This healing ability was incredible. Defeating Bam had truly paid off. "Take me to Rear Admiral Harry. Let's see how he plans to repay this life-saving favor." Rosen was in a good mood. Even the ship's doctor had believed Harry was beyond saving. Yet, somehow, he had survived. Wait—he was in the same area as Daz Bones. Could that mean... Rosen had unknowingly healed him too? —— "This is impossible. He lost so much blood and suffered severe trauma—how is he still alive? It's a miracle." The doctor was astounded as Harry, now conscious, struggled to sit up in his bed. "Rear Admiral Harry, you're truly fortunate. When we found you, you were barely breathing." Rosen entered the room with a calm expression. Harry's demeanor softened slightly but remained conflicted. During his conversation with the doctor, he had pieced together how he ended up here—and the irony was unsettling. A fellow Marine had tried to assassinate him, while a pirate had saved him. What kind of twisted situation was this? "You seem to have figured out the situation," Rosen said. "So let's not waste time. As far as the outside world is concerned, you're dead. If you want to leave here alive, you'll need to offer something in return. I'm a Shichibukai, but I was a pirate first—I don't do charity work." Harry's expression darkened. Of course, a Shichibukai wouldn't save him out of kindness. But what could he offer? Money was pointless—he didn't have much to begin with. "What do you want?" He sighed. "If you expect me to betray the Marines or reveal classified intelligence, forget it." Rosen smirked. "Nothing so dramatic. What I want is the training methods and insights of the Marine Rokushiki." He carefully observed Harry's reaction. Truthfully, Rokushiki was no longer considered top-secret. By the later stages of the Grand Line, even moderately skilled Marines were proficient in it. Pirates rarely practiced it, mostly because they had their own fighting styles—or simply looked down on Marine techniques. But there was one move Rosen really needed—Geppo (Moonwalk). With Moonwalk, he could adapt to any terrain—whether in the air or over water. "Rokushiki?" Harry frowned. Why was Crocodile interested in Marine martial arts? Technically, Rokushiki wasn't highly classified, but the Marines still forbade it from being spread outside their ranks. That didn't mean it wasn't already leaked—many defected Marine officers had taken it with them. It was even available on the black market. Teaching it to Crocodile wouldn't cause much trouble, as long as Harry didn't openly admit to it. But still— "And if I refuse?" Harry challenged. Rosen leaned forward, his tone unwavering. "Let's be clear—your current situation isn't great. As I said, to the world, you are dead. That means if I choose to let you die, it changes nothing." "You teach me, and you lose nothing. Besides, Luca is dead, Bam is dead, and Morris is on the run. Once this is over, Sake City is yours to control. Think about it." Harry's eyes widened in shock. "What?!" During his escape and unconsciousness, the entire balance of power had collapsed? The Three Great Wineries—gone? If he had died, that would have meant none of the three major factions had any leader left. Who was strong enough to cause such an upheaval? Harry stared at Rosen, a gut feeling telling him that this Shichibukai had everything to do with it. The moment Crocodile arrived, Sake City's fate changed. After a moment of contemplation, Harry sighed and nodded. "Fine. Bring me paper and ink." Rosen smirked. "A wise choice. You're not as cold-blooded as the rumors say—I trust you won't start killing innocents for no reason." Robin, watching from the side, rolled her eyes internally. Seriously? Did Harry really believe that? Rosen had just coerced and blackmailed him. Sure, he hadn't acted as cruelly as expected, but that didn't make him a saint. At best, he was a pragmatic villain. Rosen stood up. "Oh, and one more thing. You can start contacting the Marines now—also, make arrangements to send the children back safely." Harry wasn't a saint, but he wasn't like Luca, either. He had conscience and responsibility—which was why Rosen trusted him with the children.
