Since he was wearing an Astra Militarum uniform, no one stopped him along the way. However, many Guardsmen curiously eyed Rhodes—this guy didn't seem familiar at all! At the mountain's summit, the Astra Militarum Commissar, the regiment commander, the Adeptus Astartes captain, the remaining Space Marines, the Canoness, and several Battle Sisters had gathered to discuss the situation regarding Red King. The Tyranid swarm had gone from being the aggressors to the ones fleeing. It was clear that the Tyranids had realized King Red was absorbing their biomass to evolve. This essentially made King Red a competitor in the swarm's food chain. To prevent him from growing stronger, The Tyranids were now frantically retreating. Even the Hive Fleet's extraction tendrils, which descended from the sky to harvest biomass, were being attacked by King Red. Since those tendrils couldn't move like the swarm itself, King Red had already destroyed several of them. The Tyranids were incredibly fast and could fly, so King Red could only kill a portion of them during pursuit. His ranged attacks were lacking. Thus, Rhodes had ordered King Red to focus on attacking the Hive Fleet's descending tendrils, using his monstrous strength to tear apart the appendages extracting biomass. By destroying these extraction tendrils, he could also absorb Tyranid biomass himself, gaining system credits in the process. With the Tyranids now fleeing, the humans found themselves in a brief moment of respite. The swarm was scattering, and there were even signs they might abandon the planet altogether. In just a few hours, large numbers of high-tier Tyranid organisms had already withdrawn to the Hive Fleet in orbit, leaving only expendable cannon fodder behind. However, Rhodes knew that as one of the galaxy's apex predatory species, the Tyranids wouldn't simply let this go. This was merely the calm before the storm. The Tyranids would not give up on King Red. Whether it was his immensely powerful monster genes or his ability to absorb and convert biomass, the swarm craved them. At that moment, a Sister Scribe was quietly recording everything. When she noticed Elena, her expression shifted in surprise.
