Trailing behind him were Hinata and Kurama, who had both grown surprisingly comfortable with skipping lessons altogether. "Yakumo." Kitazawa settled into his chair and asked, "How’s your reading going?" "I’ve finished three books already," Yakumo Kurama replied calmly. Perhaps it was due to the extraordinary mental acuity granted by her kekkei genkai, but her memory had always been phenomenal since she was a child. "Hm." Kitazawa fell into thought. At this pace, Yakumo would soon be ready to experiment with a concept he’d been mulling over—a form of Psychological Medical Ninjutsu. Though technically "medical," it wasn’t related to Yang Release techniques like ordinary healing jutsu. Instead, it fell under Yin Release—a subtle, mental domain. He contemplated for a moment, then made up his mind. He needed to discuss this with Kurenai. After all, while he understood the theory, he wasn’t exactly a specialist in Yin Release techniques. But he did have an advantage: he wasn’t bound by the traditional ways ninjas usually thought. "I’m heading out for a bit." Once he finished his paperwork, Kitazawa rose and left the Academy. Roughly ten minutes later, he arrived at Kurenai’s apartment. He knocked on the door. A moment later, it swung open. The first thing he saw was a pair of slender, fair legs. Then came a trim waist, and finally a loose top that barely contained its treasures. "Kitazawa? Done with classes already today?" Kurenai asked, one brow arched in curiosity. "I just had a morning class," Kitazawa replied. "I’m free now, so I thought I’d come talk to you about Yakumo." "Is that so? Come on in." Kurenai stepped aside, gesturing him in. "Thanks." Kitazawa nodded and stepped inside. Kurenai shut the door and strolled into her living room. She dropped onto her couch with a dramatic sigh, crossed one leg over the other, and absently wiggled her foot, looking completely at ease. Kitazawa took the seat opposite her, catching an unintentional glimpse of her pale soles. "So? What’s on your mind?" Kurenai asked, leaning forward a bit. "Yakumo’s absorbing theoretical knowledge incredibly fast," Kitazawa began. "I’m thinking it might be time for her to start learning—and eventually creating—her own ninjutsu." "Oh?" Kurenai tilted her head thoughtfully. "Well, for Yakumo, the obvious path would be Genjutsu." "That was my thought too," Kitazawa agreed. "But here’s the problem: standard genjutsu just... doesn’t suit her." Kurenai crossed her arms and fell silent, mulling it over. Kitazawa had already discussed two potential genjutsu directions for Yakumo. The first was genjutsu that directly attacked the mind without relying on the five physical senses. The second was a new concept: Psychological Medical Ninjutsu—genjutsu designed to influence and heal negative emotions. "Do you have any ideas for how to create something like that?" Kurenai finally asked, rubbing her brow in frustration. Inventing new techniques wasn’t her specialty. Unlike geniuses like Minato Namikaze, she wasn’t known for groundbreaking innovation. In the original timeline, every genjutsu she used had been passed down from her father, Shinku Yuhi. Being asked to suddenly invent entirely new jutsu gave her a headache. "Well, the first priority for a psychological medic is gaining the patient’s trust," Kitazawa said after a pause. "Because people struggling with mental wounds often can’t easily put their pain into words." "That’s true," Kurenai agreed. "So how do you propose we earn their trust?" "By creating a space where the patient feels completely safe and comfortable," Kitazawa replied calmly. "And Yakumo can do that—through her paintings." Yakumo’s kekkei genkai allowed her to bring her artwork to life, creating a world so vivid and real that even seasoned ninja couldn’t always recognize it as genjutsu. In the original timeline, not even Kurenai herself—an expert in genjutsu—could escape once caught in Yakumo’s painted world. "People are far more willing to open up when they’re in a safe, familiar environment," Kitazawa continued. "And we could even enhance it with sound-based genjutsu to further lower their guard." Most genjutsu relied on sight, particularly the eyes. Sound-based genjutsu was exceedingly rare—and precisely because it was so uncommon, few ever anticipated it. "And if the patient still refuses to talk," Kitazawa added, "there’s one last option: dream therapy." "Dream therapy?" Kurenai echoed. "Exactly," Kitazawa said. "Once the patient falls asleep, Yakumo can use her formidable mental abilities to enter their dreams." In dreams, people dropped their defenses completely. No one paid much attention to what happened in dreams—or believed those memories held any true danger. In that dream world, Yakumo could take on any form she needed, gathering information or offering comfort where waking words fell short. Kurenai sat back, stunned by the sheer audacity—and potential—of the idea. ’If anyone could pull it off... it was Yakumo Kurama.’ "Those are some truly novel ideas." Kurenai paused in thought, then said, "The things you just mentioned actually open up three different research paths." The concepts themselves were surprisingly simple, yet she’d never thought of them. In her world, Genjutsu—and ninjutsu in general—were purely tools for combat and killing. "Whether it’s possible still depends on you," Kitazawa replied with an easy smile. "It won’t be easy," Kurenai conceded, but a glimmer of determination flashed in her crimson eyes. "But I can give it a shot. I do know a thing or two about Genjutsu, after all." "You’re being modest," Kitazawa said, shaking his head. "Aside from the Uchiha Clan, you’re the most skilled Genjutsu user in all of Konoha." "You don’t have to remind me," Kurenai retorted, puffing out her cheeks in mild annoyance. Those damn Uchiha. They’d ruined her childhood dream of becoming Konoha’s supreme Genjutsu master. When she was younger and full of ambition, she’d fantasized about surpassing the Uchiha Clan. But reality hit hard: no matter how hard she trained, it was simply impossible to compete with the Sharingan. Even if an Uchiha had never trained in Genjutsu, the moment they awakened their Three Tomoe Sharingan, they became top-tier Genjutsu specialists overnight. It was like playing a game and watching them skip straight to the final boss. "As an apology, let me treat you to lunch," Kitazawa offered quickly. "You’re already in my house. No need to waste your money. I’ll cook," Kurenai huffed, rolling her eyes at him. "Even the way you roll your eyes is gorgeous," Kitazawa teased, grinning. "I’d say you’re the most beautiful woman in Konoha." "Smooth talker," Kurenai muttered, shaking her head. She rose to her feet and said, "Come on. Follow me upstairs." ’Oh no, Kurenai, you’re giving me dangerous ideas...’ Kitazawa thought, trailing after her. Kurenai’s bare feet made soft, rhythmic sounds against the floor as she climbed the stairs. With each step, Kitazawa couldn’t help but notice the way her shapely hips swayed enticingly. "Here we are. Come in," Kurenai said, pushing open a door and stepping inside. Kitazawa looked around and realized they’d entered a study. "The bookshelves are full of my family’s Genjutsu techniques and records," Kurenai explained as she sat down at her desk. "Feel free to look through them." "As an outsider, am I really allowed to see these?" Kitazawa asked, blinking in surprise. Kurenai froze, realizing she hadn’t even considered that. She’d just wanted a quiet place for their discussion—and completely forgotten how secretive clan techniques were supposed to be. "Since I’ve already invited you, it’ll be fine," she said finally, though a faint blush rose to her cheeks. But after the words left her mouth, she couldn’t help but feel a bit awkward. "Alright," she continued, shaking off the moment, "let’s start with something basic. Let’s see if we can create a low-level Sound Genjutsu." "Sounds good," Kitazawa agreed at once. He wasn’t about to pass up this rare chance to dive into advanced Genjutsu knowledge. Of course, even if he couldn’t learn it directly, he had another motivation: it would help him explain any future Genjutsu-related rewards he received from the system. The afternoon rolled around, bringing Practical Combat Class. Standing before the students of Class 1-A, Kitazawa cleared his throat. "Before we begin today, there’s something important I need to announce." "The first academy-wide exam of this semester will be held on April 30th." "Will there be a ranking for the entire academy?" Uzumaki Naruto shouted eagerly, immediately latching onto the key point. "Yes," Kitazawa confirmed with a nod. Sasuke narrowed his eyes, his competitive spirit igniting. First in class... and first in the entire academy. I’m taking it all. "Awesome!" Naruto cried, punching the air. "I’m coming for that top spot!" "Hmph. Whatever. The great me is about to make his move," Kiba declared, his hands stuffed into his pockets and confidence radiating off him. Hinata drew in a deep breath. She’d been receiving special training from Kitazawa for so long. It was time to show results—to make him proud. She silently vowed to claim first place. ------------------------------- AN : To keep the Chapters coming - Support with POWER STONES. For Every 100 power stones - 1 BONUS Chapter.
