Jolthar gripped his blade tightly as his beast king power, wild and untamed, began to pulse beneath his skin. The dragon sensed the shift in power, its ancient instincts recognizing the primal energy of the Beast King. It hesitated, massive head tilting in what almost looked like confusion. Jolthar wanted to see if his beast king power had any sway over the massive beast, and it seemed like it did. Jolthar seized the moment. He launched himself toward the beast with inhuman speed. He was using his telekinetic ability to fly in the air. It was his first time using it, but he flew with such accuracy. And he was not just flying; he was holding his long blade, Knashii, and he swung the sword. Knashii sang through the air, trailing silver-coloured traces of energy along its edges, evidence of the voidwrath power as it struck the junction between two massive scales on the dragon's foreleg. The blade bit deep, dark blood spraying outward. The dragon shrieked, the sound splitting the air like thunder. Its wounded leg buckled momentarily. "How about grinning now, eh!" Jolthar was excited; he could feel the distinct energies in him stir, fuelling him. He felt like he was full of power, and he was starting to enjoy it. But Jolthar had committed too fully to the attack. The dragon's head snapped around faster than anything so large should move. Massive jaws closed where Jolthar had been an instant before—missing him only because the telekinetic impulse he'd desperately thrown behind himself had propelled him just beyond reach. He landed hard, rolling across sharp stones, his shoulder taking the brunt of the impact. Pain flared across his side—he'd been too slow to completely escape. One of the dragon's teeth had torn through his leathers, leaving a shallow but burning gash along his ribs. Jolthar groaned. "I should have practised a bit more." He thought he was fast, but the dragon was faster than him. After all, it was his first time trying flight. The beast's blood contained ancient fire. The wound on Jolthar's side sizzled as dragon blood mixed with his own blood. He gritted his teeth against the pain, forcing himself to stand. But it didn't persist, as the green energy started to ooze out of the black blood. The wound was still there; only the black blood, which made him feel the pain, was gone. The dragon regarded him with ancient eyes, intelligence and malice swirling in their golden depths. It circled slowly, its wounded leg leaving smears of dark blood on the stone. Jolthar knew the beast was reassessing him—no longer seeing mere prey but a worthy opponent. In the distance, he could hear the sounds of their battle. Lodawg's laughter followed—cruel and confident. Jolthar couldn't afford to look away from the dragon, but his resolve hardened. If she were to die here, in these barony lands, it would certainly complicate things for him, and moreover, there were still familial feelings left in him which made it hard for him to ignore her, only towards her. She was the one who helped him during his childhood days and the one who told him about the sword; even though it didn't last long, it helped him become strong. Jolthar breathed out heavily, focusing on the black dragon. For now, he needs to take care of the dragon quickly and go to her. The dragon struck again, this time with calculated precision rather than raw power. Its claws swept low, forcing Jolthar to jump. The dragon was no longer in the water as it moved onto the land; the forest around the dragon was smashed and became a flat surface. As Jolthar jumped, its second foreclaw attacked from above—a perfect trap. Jolthar's telekinesis flared, and green energy enveloped his entire body. Instead of trying to stop the massive limb, he used the power to alter his own trajectory in mid-air, twisting impossibly between the converging attacks. He landed on the dragon's forearm, Knashii plunging downward with all his weight behind it. The blade sank hilt-deep between armoured scales. The beast roared, rearing upward. Jolthar clung to his embedded sword as the world tilted wildly around him. The dragon thrashed, trying to dislodge him. He held the sword in place, but the pain in his shoulder throbbed. "Enough!" he shouted, though whether to the dragon or himself, he wasn't sure. Drawing on the Beast King's power, Jolthar sent green energy surging down the blade and into the dragon's flesh. The beast went rigid as the primal magic touched its ancient being. Jolthar twisted the blade, then wrenched it free in a spray of blood. He leapt clear as the dragon convulsed, landing in a crouch twenty feet away. The Beast King's energy had disrupted the creature's innate magic, temporarily paralysing one limb. But dragons were creatures of magic incarnate. Already, it was fighting through the effect, golden eyes blazing with hatred. It inhaled again, its chest expanding to unleash another inferno. Jolthar called on all the powers simultaneously—a dangerous gambit. The Beast King's green energy strengthened his body. Telekinesis lifted him skyward as the flames erupted below. Blue swordsmanship aura extended Knashii's reach, creating an azure arc ten feet long. And lastly, his voidwrath, the silver energy flowed out of him like lines of silver threads, creeping down the long blade and the extended aura blade. He summoned the voidwrath, calling upon all the power. Even the bright sky couldn't dim the glow around Jolthar as he hovered in the air. Johamma and Lodawg were momentarily distracted by the change in the atmosphere. Suddenly, everything around them was bathed in silver light. It seemed like he froze in midair, but he wasn't. And then he moved. Jolthar descended like a falling star, blade-arc aimed at the dragon's eyes. The beast jerked its head aside at the last moment, flames ceasing as it focused on defence. The extended blade carved a deep furrow along its armoured skull, missing the eye but leaving a significant wound. The dragon's tail whipped around in retaliation, too fast to dodge. It struck Jolthar squarely, sending him flying across the clearing. He slammed into a boulder, the impact driving air from his lungs.
