A clumsy voice came through the receiver.
He Wei paused for a moment, glanced around the people on the first floor, and indeed saw someone missing—Zeng Xu, who once tried to hook up with him.
He didn’t think much of someone like Zeng Xu, especially since Zeng Xu had a fling with that moron named Zhang. The thought of Zeng Xu having been with President Zhang made He feel a bit nauseous.
Even though He Wei was flirtatious and reckless, he had his limits, not to mention leftovers from President Zhang, "second-hand goods."
Now, Zeng Xu actually knew Zhou Xue? That’s interesting. He Wei curled his lips into a sinister smile, fingers gently rubbing Meimei’s snow-white, slender neck beneath him.
Meimei shivered uncontrollably from the touch, as if her neck were her sensitive area. Seeing He Wei’s mischievous smile, Meimei knew he was up to no good again. After all, she’d known He Wei for some years now; to become the leading figure at Su City’s top establishment and maintain contact with Mingsheng Entertainment’s vice president, could Meimei really be a simple person?
She softly suggested in He Wei’s ear, "Brother Wei, I see you fancy Zhou Xue quite a bit. Want to let her try the newest ’candy’ from our club?"
He Wei seemed intrigued by the "candy." "What kind of candy?"
"The kind that can turn a virtuous woman into a pool of spring water~"
"Brother Wei~ You mustn’t try it; it contains addictive ingredients. Also, don’t give her too much, one piece is enough~" Meimei took out a small box from her handbag, which indeed looked like an ordinary candy box.
She handed the box to He Wei, advising him not to use it himself and not to give too much to anyone.
He Wei took the box, nodded to show he understood, and got up, heading upstairs.
Meanwhile, upstairs, Zeng Xu was knocking on doors one by one. He found Zhou Xue in a room at the corridor’s end. Zeng Xu tried the doorknob and discovered he could open the door, while Zhou Xue inside couldn’t open it no matter what.
Unexpectedly, to satisfy his desires, He Wei had designed such an inhumane switch; people inside the room couldn’t unlock the door without the password, only those outside could open it.
He Wei hadn’t anticipated anyone would rescue Zhou Xue, so he hadn’t set a password outside the bedroom, which allowed Zeng Xu to exploit the loophole.
Once the door was opened, Zeng Xu saw Zhou Xue sitting on the floor by the door, somewhat impatient, as he had warned her before.
"Get up, I’m taking you out."
Zhou Xue suddenly raised her head. She heard the door open but thought it was He Wei, so she remained seated without moving. Zhou Xue didn’t expect Zeng Xu to be the one who opened the door.
She quickly stood up from the floor and obediently followed Zeng Xu out of the bedroom.
"Thank you. I didn’t expect you to..."
Zeng Xu interrupted her thanks, "Don’t rush to thank me. I can only get you out of the bedroom; the rest is up to you. After all, I have my own concerns."
"Still, thank you."
"Find a place to hide for now; in a moment, I’ll divert everyone’s attention. When you see the chance, make your escape." Zeng Xu finished explaining his plan and added, "If you still can’t run away, it’s not my fault anymore. Consider it as settling the previous debt."
"Okay, okay." Zhou Xue nodded, gave Zeng Xu a deep look, then turned and ran into another bedroom near the staircase.
Watching her go in, Zeng Xu also turned and headed downstairs to create an opportunity.
He Wei watched from the surveillance as Zeng Xu searched for Zhou Xue room by room, then watched them devise a seemingly clever yet foolish plan, and then saw Zhou Xue hide in a room. "Tsk, fools, both fools."
"Mr. He, should we go retrieve Zhou Xue?" The person who had just phoned He Wei sought his instruction.
He Wei waved his hand, "No need. The more fools there are, the more fun the game is." He got up and left the surveillance room, descending before Zeng Xu.
When Zeng Xu got downstairs, he saw the atmosphere remained lively. He pondered how to create chaos to divert everyone’s attention. After a while, he picked up a wine glass and walked towards He Wei.
As he reached Meimei’s position, Zeng Xu pretended to stagger, as if Meimei deliberately tripped him. His hand tilted, and the wine glass spilled red wine onto He Wei’s trousers.
"Ah! Mr. He, sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean to! Let me wipe it off for you!" Zeng Xu exclaimed, taking a handkerchief from his vest pocket, and began wiping the place where the wine had spilled.
He Wei caught Zeng Xu’s wrist, squinting at him—this Zeng Xu... so that’s his plan, interesting.
Everyone present, veterans in matters of romance, watched Zeng Xu’s theatrics and realized he was targeting Brother Wei. They started to jeer, even Meimei stood up to give Zeng Xu space to "wipe off the wine" for He Wei.
Listening carefully to the commotion downstairs, Zhou Xue knew this was Zeng Xu’s opportunity for her. She hurriedly and quietly opened the bedroom door, then stealthily crouched and walked down the stairs.
While everyone’s attention was on Zeng Xu, she quickly avoided their gaze and ran out the front door.
However, she didn’t notice that, at the moment she came downstairs, someone’s eyes were secretly observing her every move.
Zeng Xu wiped He Wei’s trousers, the position somewhat awkward, but He Wei showed no reaction. He looked up at He Wei and found He Wei’s gaze elsewhere.
Following He Wei’s gaze, Zeng Xu’s pupils suddenly dilated, quickly turning to look at He Wei, discovering that He Wei was watching him with a faint smile.
That was when Zeng Xu realized how foolish he had been. For He Wei to achieve the position of vice president at Mingsheng Entertainment wasn’t just due to being the CEO’s cousin.
His every move was elementary to someone like He Wei, who’d seen strategies far superior over the years.
Stopping his wiping hand, Zeng Xu didn’t dare look up again.
"Why stop now? Your acting skills are wasted if not used for acting. If you manage to amuse everyone today, a few scripts could be yours another day."
Zeng Xu understood the hidden meaning in He Wei’s words—essentially telling him to seduce or even offer himself up, something he could accept. Since his first entanglement with President Zhang, he had no such moral limits.
But his current goal was He Wei, seated leisurely on the central sofa. After pondering for a few seconds, Zeng Xu abruptly spoke up,
"Mr. He, Zhou Xue has run out of the villa. Should I help you bring her back?"
