332: Chapter 312, 3 items 332: Chapter 312, 3 items At its core, the Order of the Secret Realm utilizes the power of “Deities”, fixing and regulating it.
In other words, what the “Secret Realm” looks like is determined by whichever Deity rules it, or by the “domains” and “laws of the world” of that Deity.
“A-Secret Realm-087” is the name of this new Secret Realm.
A more catchy name hasn’t been coined yet.
The power it borrows is from a familiar face to Lu Ping’an, the Chaser.
The one who eternally chases after stars, apparently, is a Deity belonging to the Constant Motion system.
Lu Ping’an is familiar with His style.
“The King of Stadium Sponsorship, the super sportswear corporation.”
Lu Ping’an’s first successful professional runner not only borrowed His power but did so in His stadium…
However, in retrospect, the three runners on the track, who were all hit by fate, really give off a nostalgic feeling.
This Deity’s obsessive love for “competition” and “sports” manifests in His Secret Realms, which are mostly simple sports competitions, relatively safe but low-profit for non-runners.
This time it’s also a competition, but Lu Ping’an felt the urge to give up at first sight.
“Why is it a triathlon….”
Natural water swimming, road cycling, road long-distance running, three challenges very straightforward and pushing human limits.
Yet, in the competition of non-human professionals, the difficulty escalates a bit…
“…I don’t want to run.
Not at all.”
But what truly makes Lu Ping’an want to drop out isn’t the difficulty, but the damn endurance race.
Just the first leg, a 50-kilometer obstacle race…
Clearly, it’s a whole day running event.
“Me, run?
Impossible.”
Even without the bitter lesson from his previous job, he truly does not want to run when his life is threatened, let alone challenge human boundaries, especially when he’s not guaranteed to win.
Other clubs have had more prep time, possibly bringing out more professional runners.
Discarding the advantage of combat power, Lu Ping’an’s new club might not be better than those professional student clubs who specialize.
“…Forget it, we can do without a base.
Wearing myself out running just isn’t worth it.”
To Lu Ping’an, having a base is better since it’s the biggest billboard when recruiting.
But it’s okay if there isn’t one.
It’s not immediately important, he can just try to get it at the next clear-cut melee.
However, browsing further into the intelligence, he noted there are three modes in the Secret Realm.
The first one is individual triathlon, happening twice daily, reportedly extremely dangerous but rewarding.
The second type is single-event competitions, running every hour, with average rewards but good for practice.
The third type is a team race, each team nominates a person for a single event, but the difficulty of each event is immediately doubled.
There is only one team race every three days, but the reward is the highest.
It is a highlight of this Secret Realm, people have even tried to introduce betting.
“Eighty percent chance it’s the team race.”
This was almost certain.
The triathlon tests different capabilities, requires a team to put forward the three most suited candidates, also demonstrating your reserve of diverse talents.
Runners, you can run fast, but can you swim?
The second event is nominally a “Bicycle Race”, but in fact, it is a “Vehicle Race”.
The third event directly tests water abilities and underwater (surface) survival skills.
They all have something to do with the runner, but also have some connection to other same-class professions (Constant Motion system).
“Runners, Tamers, Sailors…”
Lu Ping’an fell silent.
He realized that it might not be impossible…
as long as the one worn out from running isn’t him.
“Meow, you don’t want your brother to be embarrassed either, right?
The difficult task of recreating the glory of the Lei runner family is entrusted to you.”
Lu Ping’an nodded.
He could already envision Meow’s future joyous tears.
He could try this race.
Even if he failed, there wasn’t much to lose as long as he didn’t run.
So, he decided to register directly.
But since he’s already in the Secret Realm, he didn’t plan to leave just yet.
“Might as well take down some more as warm up.”
He’s been advancing pretty frequently lately, and his “contamination” has long been depleted.
He needs more “experience” for the next advancement.
Making a trip to the Secret Realm is quite a hassle.
Not only does the journey consume time, but there’s also the matter of ticket costs.
But this time, he didn’t specifically hunt down the older, highly intelligent monsters.
The regular newborn Magic Monsters would do.
This was the “Wilderness”.
Most of the Magic Monsters here were demonized Beasts, the most troublesome of which were the “Stalking Lizards”, camouflaging beast assassins.
But for Lu Ping’an, who possesses life perception, these made the easiest killing targets.
This time, he didn’t focus on getting kills for his Calamity Arm but practiced his combat tactics while earning more experience points with an actual weapon.
And this time, when he took up the weapon, he felt something completely different from before.
“So this is how a warrior feels when using a weapon.
It’s almost like cheating.”
Using a weapon was different from when he did it on his own before.
With the supernatural augmentation of professional skills, wielding the weapon felt like an effortless extension of his own flesh and blood.
A swing, a strike, a slash; even before he could figure out how to make the moves, his body had already performed them.
And when faced with an attack, he had an intuition, instinctively knowing the opponent’s strength and how he should wield his weapon for effective defense.
It essentially felt like he had activated an automatic cheat.
“Compared to a real Battle Axe mastery, All Weapon Specialization is just a jack of all trades.”
Lu Ping’an was previously proud of his All Weapon Specialization.
But now, he realized that being able to boost everything meant enhancing nothing in particular.
Lu Ping’an knew this was probably an aftereffect of just gaining the ability, and with some adaptation, he would be able to turn it into his own substantial combat power.
“Let’s take down some more.”
So, he cheerfully decided.
Then, he went on a killing spree until midnight, thoroughly satisfying himself.
The new battle technique, Shockstone Combat Tactics, was very useful.
But it couldn’t exactly be considered a set of weapon techniques, rather a set of “power application” techniques.
Compared to a giant, humans were insignificant; compared to a giant’s weapon, human hands were far too fragile.
Forcefully taming it was not impossible, but it was not worth the cost.
Shockstone Combat Tactics emphasized on “yielding greater results with minimal effort”, utilizing the dexterity of one’s hands to manipulate the weight of the boulder and using its massive volume and weight to crush the opponent.
“As expected, the focus is still on the hands…
especially the wrists.”
This was certainly in line with the “Calamity Arm” ability of the Strangler, but Lu Ping’an didn’t think it was coincidental.
“The ability to use heavy and long weapons ultimately lies in the wrist.
That must be enhanced, but it seems the enhancement methods of Shockstone and Calamity Arm differ.”
Shockstone constantly increased the flexibility of the wrist, confronted the unresolvable reality, and with the “solid stone” technique, allowed stones to roll automatically with humans acting as the “bridge” of this rolling process.
“To let the heavy stone fall freely, to strike people with this power, this is the so-called ‘Shockstone Combat Tactics.'”
Although “Calamity Arm” had not awakened, Lu Ping’an knew that it should be an ability to enhance the strength of his wrist, which was proven by the unfortunate enemies who got strangled to death under his Calamity Arm.
As for Lu Ping’an, training in earnest became a form of interest.
He lost track of time as he revelled in the kill, and by the time he remembered to return, it was already midnight.
Despite not deliberately seeking them out, the number of sacrifices that fell under his “Calamity Arm” still crossed the sixty-mark.
However, on his journey back, he felt a sense of unease.
“Feels like I’ve forgotten something…never mind, if I was able to forget, it probably wasn’t important.”
So, he happily returned, took a bath, and slept.
He decided to inform Meow the next day to prepare for the Marathon from Hell.
However, at a part of the ancient city, a group of freshman students were confronting one another, a sense of unease and confusion painted on their faces.
“Wasn’t the meeting supposed to be tonight?
Yuge, are you sure our classmate said he would invite us to join the society?”
An already guilty Mei Yuge, looking at the night sky, was trembling all over.
“Did he know I secretly invited my senior brother to join?
Did he see through all this?
What will I do after my senior brother leaves?”
