Jia Xu felt that they sent it right now, so when the armies in Lujiang received the order right away, then the attack on Jiangxia would immediately attract the attention of all the people, Gongsun Du included. After some weeks passed, entering the new year Gongsun Du must have lowered his guard and that’s when they should strike Gongsun Du, defeating him at the fastest speed possible and having another vassal at their disposal. Hearing this Lie Fan thought for a moment and agreed with Jia Xu’s words, so he told Jia Xu to send the order of the attack right away and the rest they needed to wait for the opportune moment. Jia Xu after leaving the room, headed toward a designated Oriole room inside the Castle which was hidden from all except for Oriole members who knew the symbol or code used to tell there was a room there. In there he wrote the order for the attack on Jiangxia, took out the raven that sent the letter from a cage, and after trying the letter in its feet, he told the raven to send it bag to its master and let it fly away. A week passed by, and the raven sometimes stopped along the way to rest itself or to eat, then continued its fight before reaching Lujiang where it flew down toward a tent inside a large military encampment near Lujiang. When the raven entered the tent, he immediately landed on Chen Deng’s shoulder who took the letter from its feet, and gave it a treat as a reward. Inside the tent, there were Huang Zhong, Dian Wei, Zhang Chao, Liu Ba, Chen Deng, Zang Hong, and Lu Jun who were the high-ranking officers and advisors that were appointed by Lie Fan as the respective leaders of their Army group. Lu Jun wasn’t the head general of the Lujiang army anymore, but since they were in Lujiang and his army was incorporated into the Xuanwu Army, he was invited after consideration from Chen Deng, Liu Ba, and Zang Hong to placate Lu Kang and his clan. Since the strategy has been set up, everyone leaves the tent to prepare their men for tomorrow’s battle, and tonight’s dinner for the soldiers was more lavish than usual to raise their morale and give them enough energy for their battle tomorrow. The next day, in front of Lujiang’s Eastern Gate, hundreds of thousands of soldiers lined up in formation, waiting for the order to march as Chen Deng and Zang Hong waited for the signal from Liu Ba who boarded the ships with the Qinglong Army. While waiting, they heard the sound of fireworks exploding in the sky, which was the signal from Liu Ba, and with that, the Baihu and Xuanwu army were ordered to begin their march. The attack on Liu Biao began with Huang Zhong and Lu Jun who were leading the Navy of Lie Clan and Lu Clan, attacked Huang Zu’s navy which was patrolling along the Yangtze River under Liu Biao’s domain. The attack came fast and unexpectedly, and the Lie Clan’s navy began to show its power using the Hwacha and fire lance shooting toward Huang Zu’s navy, taking some of the ships out by surprise in the process. Lu Clan’s navy was surprised and horrified by the weapon that was used by Lie Clan’s Navy because they had never seen something like it before, the attack was bloody and fast leaving no survivor as either the ship was set on fire or the marines were killed by arrows. On the land side, Dian Wei and Zhang Chao both mounted a fast attack taking advantage of the element of surprise, where several small towns in the frontier of border managed to be taken down by them at a fast speed. Some villages immediately surrendered when they saw such a large army on their doorstep, so in a matter of days the border between Lujiang Commandery and Jiangxia Commandery was conquered. The news of the attack on Liu Biao’s Jiangxia, the whole land wasn’t truly surprised by the attack but the target which was Liu Biao, as this means a neutral party was finally dragged to enter the hegemony war for the unification of China.
