.......
The conference room fell silent.
The atmosphere on the other side of the screen was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
The representatives from Tai Island, Wei Gao and other nations were having trouble accepting this!
Wait... We just suspected you Great Han might have large-scale metaphysical weapons of mass destruction, but you ACTUALLY HAVE THEM?!
Are you even giving us a chance to survive?!
At this moment, they'd rather believe Great Han had broken the rules by sending Heavenly Perception operatives.
But amidst the shock, some clever individuals noticed something.
"This seems different from the bombardment at East Kang Island, it feels like..."
Qiu Fu immediately shot them a look.
He grabbed the intercom and pressed the button: "Immediately prepare Package #1 for our distinguished guests from Zhubo Nation - full-scale bombardment!!!"
"Waitwaitwaitwait!!!!"
"It's the same!! Exactly the same!!! This is completely identical!!!"
The Heavenly Perception operative from Zhubo Nation nearly had his soul scared out of him.
Holy shit.
I just voiced some suspicions.
No need to go this far.
What else could he say?
Claim it was different?
If you say it's different, we'll just let you witness a few more rounds until you understand - because we say it's the same.
'Military exercises' need a proper venue after all.
And Zhubo's frontline makes for excellent practice grounds.
Qiu Fu snorted coldly and declared: "We were merely testing our newest weapon prototype."
"Since we're at war anyway, we haven't violated any regulations. Wouldn't you agree?"
Silence. Still silence.
At this point, debating regulatory violations was meaningless.
As long as Great Han had evidence - even if that evidence wasn't entirely convincing - as long as it held a shred of credibility, no one could hold Great Han accountable.
In short:
If you're unhappy, come fight us. Great Han might get hurt, but you'll lose your lives.
Moreover, they could tell this weapon had significant limitations and seemed rather unstable - the kind that might blow up in your face before hitting the enemy.
As the silence continued, Qiu Fu prepared to speak again: "What, all gone broke?"
When the other nations' Heavenly Perception operatives looked over, he explained:
"Otherwise why the 'silence is golden' act?"
Confident from having seen the footage, he continued:
"Since talk is cheap and one video proves nothing, why not have White Eagle stop hiding - they have detection methods in this field, don't they?"
"Just collect samples of the residual spiritual energy at East Kang Island for testing. The results will tell you whether Heavenly Perception was involved."
This single statement blocked all possible arguments.
At this point, they could basically conclude Great Han hadn't deployed Heavenly Perception operatives.
None wanted to keep playing the fool, quickly ending the video call.
Now the pressure was on them.
They needed to figure out how to respond to Great Han baring its fangs and claws.
Qiu Fu sat back down, unable to suppress the grin on his face.
His words and the video hadn't just fooled the enemy - they'd fooled his own teammates too.
"Commander Qiu, you... sigh... Shouldn't we keep such methods secret for critical moments?"
"How could you reveal them so carelessly... What a waste..."
Qiu Fu shook his head, adopting the expression of someone sober among drunks.
Reveal?
What they'd shown was barely a prototype.
Nine out of ten would backfire - the kind of weapon that annihilates allies and amuses enemies.
The one in the video was the only successful test, and the cost had been unimaginably high.
Even so, its actual effectiveness couldn't hold a candle to a single hair on Lu Ding's head.
And as for such half-baked prototypes? The bureau had many more.
Not just a few - many categories.
Though laughable now, with prototypes came perfected versions eventually.
Wasn't that how all technology progressed?
Other nations didn't even have prototypes yet.
Qiu Fu sighed and shook his head: "Ah... You wouldn't understand..."
If not for strategic considerations, he'd love to slap Lu Ding's combat footage in their faces.
Let them see for themselves!
How absolutely terrifying Lu Ding was!!!
But no matter - this was temporary.
Soon enough, Lu Ding wouldn't be able to stay hidden. When the time came, he'd reveal the glorious deeds at East Kang Island too, creating unprecedented shockwaves.
With these thoughts, Qiu Fu hurried out.
He needed to inform Lu Ding that this terrifying technique couldn't be publicly revealed yet.
Other nations might stop sending their geniuses over if they got too scared.
After all, Lu Ding's technique had no drawbacks and was controllable, while the prototype they'd shown was unstable and could backfire spectacularly.
The others watched Qiu Fu's abrupt exit with suspicion.
They were burning with curiosity.
What game was he playing with all this coming and going?
And since when did we possess such outrageous weapons?
Why wasn't I informed?
Everyone present felt like they'd been left behind while Great Han evolved in secret.
Entering a private room:
[Qiu Fu: HAHAHAHAHA, Lu Ding, Lu Ding come out, Lu Ding!!!]
[Lu Ding: Coming coming! How'd it go, commander? Negotiations successful?]
After summarizing the situation, Qiu Fu instructed:
[Qiu Fu: So you'll need to lay low temporarily - don't use that technique in public view. Not that I'm restricting you.]
[Use it discreetly - I'll handle cleanup and Great Han will back you. Just don't let others see for now. If you conduct any future bombardments, remember to record them - I'll need the footage.]
Meanwhile, back at Tai Island:
Lu Ding looked at his phone messages.
Well well.
Who would've thought?
This commander had a kind face but dark schemes.
So many layers to his plans!
Indeed, all tacticians played dirty.
This was an overt trap - come and die, or stay and die worse.
The enemy nations were like donkeys chasing a carrot of hope labeled "possibility."
Come, come, and you might win. Stay away, and you'll definitely lose...
[Lu Ding: Understood, commander.]
[Qiu Fu: You're being very 'inconvenienced' this time. In recognition of your outstanding performance, I'm awarding you 1,000 contribution points as compensation.]
[Plus 2,000 points for your merits in bombarding East Kang Island.]
[And another 1,000 for breaking enemy formations - totaling 4,000 points transferred shortly. 'Remember' to exchange them for resources.]
Was Lu Ding's contribution worth only 4,000 points?
Of course not.
His achievements far exceeded that amount.
The 4,000 was simply all Qiu Fu could scrape together right now.
As a heavy consumer of contribution points himself, this was already generous.
Proper merit evaluations only occurred after wars ended or when retiring from frontline duty.
By giving them now, Qiu Fu was practically telling Lu Ding:
'Level up fast - I'm fronting the costs.'
But he couldn't say this outright. While minor rule-bending was tolerated if it didn't cross lines, you couldn't flaunt it.
Handle it discreetly, file a report later - no big deal.
Because Lu Ding would've gotten these rewards anyway.
Make it obvious though, and people might talk.
