......
A streak of bloody spiritual energy scattered into the sky.
It fell directly into Wutian's line of sight from Green Vine's tallest building.
His gaze sharpened.
"It's appeared!"
Lu Ding followed his gaze but saw nothing - lacking Wutian's white curl mark.
"Where? Point it out," he demanded.
Wutian extended a finger toward the general direction: "Your assistance is appreciated, Benefactor Lu."
Lu Ding grinned in response: "No trouble at all."
Finally, something interesting was coming!!
He could hardly contain his excitement.
Thankfully they'd brought Wutian this time - relying solely on scent would have taken ages.
Did they really think he was some police hound?
Watching Wutian leap lightly, twisting midair -
He couldn't fly.
But that didn't matter.
Brute force could launch bricks - same difference!
Lu Ding pivoted at the waist, delivering a whip kick that Wutian used as a stepping platform.
BOOM!!!!
The explosive impact sent Wutian rocketing forward like a cannonball.
Lu Ding jumped after him.
BOOM!!! BOOM!!!!
Two consecutive accelerations.
Twin sonic booms trailed behind them before dissipating.
The dark clouds above seemed to press downward with Lu Ding's movements.
Meanwhile, in the park.
The man Fu Yun had killed had been on a Huo family assignment - equipped with tracking devices.
Upon death or manual activation, all nearby operatives would be alerted.
Fu Yun had limited contact with the formal Qi Refiner world.
She resembled Lu Ding, yet wasn't like him.
Like Lu Ding, her cultivation advanced rapidly.
Unlike Lu Ding, she'd never joined the 749 Bureau to gain professional knowledge and exposure.
Thus while she maintained basic precautions, her understanding remained incomplete.
But now, Fu Yun sensed them coming - numerous presences converging!
She crouched down.
Gently stroked the little girl's hair.
Removed an exquisite necklace from her own throat and fastened it around the child's neck.
Her fingertip traced the girl's cheek.
"When we first met, I considered you dessert... but..."
Shaking her head with a smile: "Nevermind. This treasure's yours now. Perhaps we'll meet again."
As she spoke,
Crimson energy surged from Fu Yun's body.
Coating her arms into vicious claws.
Breeze-tossed hair framed her face: "Think you can hunt me?"
"Then let me demonstrate what we call a suicide charge!"
Her figure blurred forward.
The park's massacre commenced.
In the green woods,
Three operatives arrived, tracking the signal's origin on their phones.
"Right ahead!"
The words barely left one man's lips when-
Crimson flooded his vision.
His skullcap went flying.
The corpse collapsed, twitching.
From the shadows, Fu Yun turned to the remaining two.
"Thanks for the warm welcome."
A crimson flash - positions swapped - she materialized behind them.
Their bodies disintegrated.
The thick metallic scent attracted more prey.
From silent assassinations to scattered clashes, culminating in relentless explosive battles.
Wind rose. Rain fell.
Fu Yun stood drenched in others' blood.
Ignoring the encircling hostile gazes, she caught a raindrop in her palm.
Watched blood dilute in the water.
Looked skyward-
Meeting Lu Ding's hovering gaze across the distance.
His scholar-warrior sleeves rippled with wind patterns.
Rain pierced through leaves in a symphony of slaughter.
The howling wind sang of kindred spirits.
Yet their paths diverged.
Fu Yun tilted her head at Lu Ding, that disdainful look stirring something within.
They say eyes are windows to the soul.
Through Lu Ding's windows,
She saw contempt not directed at her specifically - but equally at all existence.
Her heartbeat accelerated.
Hands cupping her own face in ecstasy: "So... you're my surprise?"
"Can you help paint my life's most beautiful masterpiece? Even if just for an instant?"
Lu Ding observed her - clearly unhinged.
But... intriguing.
Mimicking her speech pattern: "So... you want to die, correct?"
"My instincts torment me, but I refuse a meaningless death."
As she spoke,
The blood claws melted into translucent crimson gloves.
Instinct screamed danger.
Instinct whispered this might be her final day.
Yet this was her purpose.
She couldn't beg mercy. Wouldn't.
Only gamble - that Lu Ding surpassed all expectations, that he'd grant her a 'beautiful' end.
With elegant grace, she extended a hand - awaiting his invitation.
Lu Ding happily obliged.
Articulated fingers lifted, pointing: "As you wish."
[Devouring Qi Death Beam] coalesced and fired!
The world drained of color in a dark red instant.
BOOM!!!!
The city jolted awake from its slumber.
Fu Yun dodged at inhuman speeds, reappearing nearby.
Eyes now glowing red.
Gemstone brilliance shimmered in her gaze.
She looked back-
To find Lu Ding still hovering, posture unchanged - one arm folded, the other now aimed at her.
The Way of the Jinche unleashed.
Terrifying slashes carved through everything - vegetation, stone - reducing all to dust.
The very air brimmed with lethal intent - death's sincerest invitation.
Blocking meant certain death!
Fu Yun danced through the onslaught with increasing exhilaration.
Eyes locked on Lu Ding.
She refused pure defense - desperate to retaliate - yet the relentless assault
Left no opening for counterattack.
Unless she dared absorb a Jinche slash to create an opportunity.
But that was suicide.
Yet given the chance, she believed she could strike back - her flesh, nourished by countless victims, surpassed ordinary Qi Refiners'.
Those she'd slain had shattered just so beneath her hands.
Noticing her intent,
Lu Ding's lips curled: "Confident in your physique?"
He vanished from her sight.
That speed shocked her to the core!!!
Ruby eyes darted frantically seeking him.
Then-
A palm filled her vision, growing larger - inescapable.
Flawless fingers clamped her face with mountain-crushing weight.
Slammed her from sky to earth.
THUD!!!!
The ground shattered alongside Fu Yun under that catastrophic impact.
