Glancing around, she grabbed a handful of leaves and wiped his face haphazardly, only to make it dirtier. “What a mess!” Wufu slapped his body but there was no response. She stood up and turned to walk away, but after just two steps, she stopped again, looking down from above at the half-dead man. “Running into me, you’re lucky!” After a moment, Wufu muttered to herself and walked back over. ... The fragrance, a tantalizing aroma, roused someone from their slumber, opening their eyes to see the somber trees. He abruptly sat up. “Hiss...” It really hurt, his whole body ached. But what was going on? The man looked at his bound hands and feet, his brows furrowing, his expression turning stern. He scanned his surroundings and fixed his gaze on a young girl not far from him, who was humming an unintelligible tune as she busied herself with something. The source of the aroma—he looked over and saw a simple stove made of stones with a small pot sitting on top, cooking something; the fragrance wafted from there. Gurgle, gurgle. He wanted to reach out and touch his stomach, but his hands were tightly bound. The man struggled a bit but couldn’t untie what the young woman had done; it was a knot he had never seen before and couldn’t escape from. The man couldn’t help but reveal a wry smile, who would have thought he would be bound and inhibited like this one day! Recalling their first encounter, he had clearly been at an advantage, but before he could even take pleasure from it, he was pressed down by a little girl. Heh, such an utter humiliation! Wufu raised an eyebrow but didn’t speak, heading straight to the stone stove, tossing the cleaned wild mushrooms into the pot to stew, while stirring the wood in the fireplace with a stick; the stuff in the pot grew even more aromatic. “Girl, can you untie me first?” the man couldn’t help but ask. Wufu didn’t answer as if she hadn’t heard. The man frowned, thought for a moment, and then said, “Thank you for saving me. My name is Ah Jiu, how may I address you, young lady?” After waiting for a while, the man still didn’t hear a reply from Wufu and couldn’t help feeling frustrated. Such a young girl, yet so impervious. “Girl, can we talk?” The man who called himself Ah Jiu pursed his lips and said, “It does no good to keep me tied up like this; perhaps we could negotiate some kind of deal?” He looked up at the sky and said, “Though it gets dark late now, it’d quickly turn pitch-black in the dense forest past noon, and wild animals will come out. What if we encounter a fierce beast?” “What’s that to me? I’ll leave once I’ve eaten, as for you...” Wufu finally spoke, scoffing, “A man of unknown origins, we don’t know each other at all, so why should I care about your life or death?” Ah Jiu was taken aback, taking a deep breath. This little girl, it was almost better when she didn’t speak, but once she did, it was so... irritating!
