At least during her school days, she didn’t believe she had the chance to experience that kind of rosy romance. In school, she wore braids and ordinary black-framed glasses, using a very humble attitude to cover her ample "wheat sheaves." No one would fall for such a rustic girl. This was also Arakawa Reina’s wish. She wasn’t a cheerful person by nature. She didn’t want to interact with strangers; she just wanted to be invisible and quietly stay in her corner, doing her own things. She hadn’t originally wanted to be class president. It was only because the teacher nominated her, and everyone wanted her for the role, that she accepted. She was just that kind of person, not good at refusing assertive people. Why would Aozawa fall for someone like me? Arakawa Reina scrutinized her image at school, pondering what could possibly attract him. Her conclusion was: I’m introverted and easy to bully. It definitely has nothing to do with looks. After all, sitting in front of Aozawa was Phoenix Academy Maggie. In terms of looks and aura, in Arakawa Reina’s eyes, that transfer student was like Snow White from a fairy tale. She carried an unapproachably radiant presence from head to toe. Reina was just the ugly duckling curled up in the corner, timid and inconspicuous. Aozawa definitely doesn’t like me for my looks; he must think girls like me are easy to bully and deceive. With just a little kindness and care, he could copy her homework, get her class notes, and then use her authority as class president to get out of necessary cleaning duties. I just thought of some unpleasant things." "You don’t need to worry too much. I think that young man is quite handsome. If I were younger, I’d definitely invite him for a ’taste’." Hearing her coworker say this, Arakawa Reina glanced back. The sunlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows spilled onto the table. The young man sitting there had neat features that didn’t betray the slightest hint of a bad boy. Instead, he appeared refreshingly clean, like a brand-new pair of underwear one puts on in the new year. Even his simple action of lifting a strawberry daifuku with a fork made one feel as if they were peeking at a handsome 2D guy. If one were to ask Arakawa Reina her thoughts, they would be: He’s so handsome, so sunny. However, such a good impression would mean that if she were to later claim Aozawa was abusing her at home, probably no one would believe her. She imagined a future where she was ruthlessly exploited, and yet no one would believe her. This thought filled Arakawa Reina with such loneliness and despair that she felt like dying on the spot. I’m done for! She wailed internally, one hundred percent certain she couldn’t withstand Aozawa’s sugar-coated attacks. She was too easily deceived by others’ kindness. This future I’m imagining now... later on, I’ll probably just dismiss it, telling myself I was overthinking. What should I do? Arakawa Reina’s eyes were filled with melancholy, worried that this dreadful future would soon become a harsh reality. Aozawa wasn’t thinking that much. He had pierced Arakawa Reina’s façade simply because he found it amusing. I want to see her blush. After all, a shy girl disguising herself, calling a classmate ’Master,’ then making a heart gesture in front of that classmate—if she were found out, it would definitely be very interesting. In fact, Arakawa Reina’s reaction had been very satisfying to Aozawa, giving him the pleasant feeling of a successful prank. He took a sip of his latte. It tasted good; he decided he would patronize this cafe again. The tiramisu, blueberry cake, and strawberry daifuku also deserved a ninety. Now, let’s see how this doughnut tastes. Aozawa took a bite of the doughnut. The soft texture reminded him of the softness when he had tackled Phoenix Academy Maggie, a sweet sensation spreading across his lips and teeth. Aozawa pulled out a napkin from the side to wipe his mouth, then stood up and walked to the counter to pay. Seeing this, Arakawa Reina hurriedly approached. To Arakawa Reina, this gesture was a clear hint: Class President, if you don’t want your classmates to know you work at a Maid Cafe, you’ll have to listen to me obediently. If I disobey, the secret won’t just be between us; everyone will know. Aozawa truly is a demon! Arakawa Reina’s face paled. He has leverage over me now. I’m afraid he’ll be able to do whatever he wants from now on, she thought. She swallowed hard. She wanted to retort, but what came out instead was, "Mhm, I understand." Tears welled up in her large eyes. Aozawa was puzzled. I promised to help keep her secret. Is she really so moved she’s crying? The class president really is made of water, he muttered to himself, paid his bill, and left. Outside, the sunlight was bright, and the May spring breeze brushed against people’s faces.
