Chapter 12: Rawr Hours later... "Rawr!" Second jumped out from behind the couch, his hands curled in the air, baring his little teeth. Jumping next to him was Chacha. "Rawr!" "Ah—!" Silo, who had just sat down after running a few errands for Lola, almost felt his soul jump out of his body. Looking at the little culprits of his near heart attack, his eyes fell on the twins, rocking their dinosaur onesies. Second wore the red onesie with soft spikes on the back. Chacha wore the green one. The hood over their heads was a dinosaur head, almost covering their little heads. "Haha!" Chacha giggled, catching the pale look on Silo’s face. "Uncle, you look like our uncle when you jump like that!" "Uncle Silly, did you think we’re dinosaurs — rawr!" Second added, roaring adorably once more. "Goodness..." Silo patted his chest and darted his eyes at the little dinosaurs. "I almost forgot you guys are here." He cleared his throat and smiled. "Yes, I was very shocked! Dinosaurs are scary." His answer made the little twins giggle happily, making Silo smile softly. At some point, he also didn’t blame Lola for getting a little too attached to these two. They were just adorable, albeit a little silly at times. Not just that, but they were also well-behaved. During their shopping trip with Lola, the twins didn’t ask for much. They expected them to grab all the toys their eyes could find, but they didn’t. All they asked Lola for was a couple of onesies with some characters — one that was a package for kids and parents. "By the way, where’s your mommy?" he blurted out, almost not catching himself from calling her their mother. Hearing this, Second and Chacha’s faces brightened up. But before they could answer, Lola’s voice already reached them. "I’m here." Silo, Second, and Chacha turned their heads to the source of the voice. There, they caught Lola marching toward them with a mix of green and red adult onesies with a dinosaur character on them as well. Silo’s face twitched slightly, watching Lola dry her hair with a short towel. "She wore it." When Lola stopped, her eyes landed on the twins. "Mommysuarus!" Second chimed as he ran toward her. "Rawr rawr rawr!" Chacha also ran to her until she was hugging Lola’s leg. "Mommy is a dinosaur too! So pretty!" Second roared adorably as he hugged Lola’s other leg, visibly excited to see Lola wearing the same costume as them. Lola chuckled as she reached out to them before she snapped her eyes up at Silo. "You did what I asked you to do?" she asked, and Silo nodded. "I also called Amala, and she said she’d be flying here soon to follow you with the legal documents." Lola nodded in satisfaction, despite knowing there were more things she and Silo needed to discuss. Hence, she gazed down at the twins and smiled. "Second, Chacha, how about you watch some TV shows first, hmm?" she hummed softly. "Uncle Silo and I just need to talk about some matters." "Okay!" Without any hesitation, the twins let her go and promptly climbed on the couch. They didn’t even nag her or ask her to stay with them. Instead, they simply checked the wall clock, which Lola didn’t miss. Lola glanced at the wall clock. It was eight in the evening, recalling the time the twins settled down last night; she wondered if they would sleep again at nine. Shaking her head, she snapped her eyes at Silo. "Follow me." "Yes, ma’am!" With that, Lola and Silo left the living area where the twins idled. As they walked away, the twins sneaked a glance at their mommy before looking at each other. "Second, I think Mommy is working too hard," Chacha hummed, rubbing her chin mildly. "Should we tell Father Sir so Mommy doesn’t have to work more?" Second rubbed his chin as well, tilting his head to the side. "But if we do that, Mommy might get angry at Father Sir." After all, their father was strict — very strict — when it came to paperwork. So, if they asked their father, he would surely make it happen. But at the same time, it wasn’t a good idea to introduce their father to their mother that way. The twins frowned a bit, feeling their mother was getting too tired. After all, they could sense her exhaustion when she arrived at the convenience store after her "meeting." Just then, their big round eyes fell on some papers on the coffee table. After a moment, the twins looked at each other and grinned. With that, they jumped off the couch and reached for the documents to see what they were. Who knows? They might be able to help. **** Meanwhile, in the kitchen... "We’ve raised the selling price higher, just as you wished, and Lawrence Young was livid." Silo leaned against the counter while Lola poured herself a glass of water. "Eight — eight o five." She nodded, feeling like they’d been there for more than five minutes. "Did you find out anything about Summit Partners?" "Lola, you know it’s impossible to get information on the new management when it was sold years ago," Silo sighed. Despite many rumors about who might have bought Summit Partners — big influential names — nothing had been confirmed yet. "Give me a day or two," Silo said. "I might find something useful, but Lola..." His face twisted a bit as he leaned against the counter. "I also heard Summit Partners is in talks with Lancaster — just as you said." "I know," she said as she put the pitcher back in the fridge, only to stop when Silo voiced his next concern. "Doesn’t that mean trouble for us?" he mused. "If Summit Partners funded Lancaster’s new project, we might lose the bid for construction in the redevelopment project."
