Chapter 213: Still continue
After the grueling training session, Kaine found himself once again in the luxurious bathing chamber. The same two women from before were waiting beside the steaming pool, their thin white gowns making his teenage brain short-circuit all over again.
’This really is like paradise,’ he thought as they helped him into the warm water. ’Maybe dying wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened to me.’
The woman with the more generous figure leaned forward to wash his shoulders, and Kaine tried desperately to look away. The entire experience left him feeling dizzy in ways that had nothing to do with the bath temperature.
When he finally made it to the dining hall, clean and dressed in fresh clothes, Catherine was already seated at the table. Vincent stood behind her chair, silent as always.
"How was your training, my darling?" Catherine asked, her eyes bright with maternal pride.
"Exhausting," Kaine admitted, taking his seat. "But good."
"I’m so pleased you’re taking an interest in your physical development," she said, gesturing for the servants to begin bringing food. "Your father will be thrilled when he returns."
As they ate, Catherine mentioned her plans for the afternoon. "Vincent and I have a meeting with some business associates. Nothing too important, just estate matters."
"Will you be alright on your own for a few hours?" she asked.
"I’ll be fine," Kaine assured her. "Actually, I was hoping to spend some time in the library."
Catherine’s face lit up. "Wonderful! Learning is always time well spent."
After the meal, Kaine stood with Ella at his side. "Could you show me the way to the library?"
"Of course, Young Lord. I’ll escort you there."
"Actually," Kaine said, "I think I’d prefer to go alone. You’ve been watching over me constantly since the incident. You should take some rest."
Ella’s brow furrowed with concern. "Young Lord, I don’t think that’s wise. After what happened—"
"We’re inside the mansion," Kaine interrupted gently. "I’ll be safe here. Please, just give me the directions."
Ella looked like she wanted to protest, but something in his tone made her reconsider. "Very well. Take the main staircase to the third floor, turn left into the west wing, and it’s the large double doors at the end of the corridor."
"Thank you," Kaine said. "Get some rest. That’s an order."
’Oh shit, I just gave an order to a beautiful lady. Being powerful must be fun,’ he thought, grinning to himself.
Ella bowed reluctantly. "As you wish, Young Lord."
Kaine made his way through the mansion, following Ella’s directions. As he walked down the west wing corridor, a sound caught his attention.
He paused outside one of the doors, his face immediately turning red as he recognized what he was hearing. Soft moans and gasps echoed from within.
’Are they... are they really having sex in the middle of the day?’
Curiosity and teenage hormones got the better of him. He tried the door handle, but it was locked. The sounds continued, and Kaine found himself pressing closer despite knowing he shouldn’t.
He stood there for several minutes, listening to the passionate sounds from within, his face burning red. Just as he was about to leave, he heard a woman’s voice say, "Why the fuck did you cum on my face?" Kaine couldn’t help but smile.
A few moments later, he heard movement inside and footsteps approaching the door. Kaine quickly stepped back, but not fast enough.
The door opened, and the woman who emerged was one of his bathing assistants. She was adjusting her disheveled clothing and trying to fix her hair. When she saw him, her face went pale, then bright red.
"Young Lord! I... we didn’t expect... please forgive us."
A man appeared behind her, equally flustered. He bowed hastily before hurrying past.
Both of them looked mortified as they scurried away, whispering frantically to each other.
"Don’t worry about it," Kaine called after them, trying to sound casual. "Just... maybe lock the door next time."
’Well, that was awkward,’ he thought, continuing toward the library.
When he finally reached the double doors, he pushed them open and gasped. The library was enormous, with shelves stretching from floor to ceiling on three levels. Books filled every available space.
’This place could keep me busy for years.’
"System," he called out mentally.
[Yes, Host?]
"What type of books should I be looking for? I need to understand this world, but I don’t even know where to start."
[I apologize, Host, but I do not have specific recommendations. My knowledge of this world’s literature is limited. You will need to explore and find relevant materials yourself.]
Kaine sighed. "Here we go."
He began wandering through the shelves, pulling books at random. After an hour of searching, he found what looked promising: "The Mighty Knights: The Three Great Walls."
Kaine settled into a reading chair and opened the book. The first Chapter was titled "The Beginning of the Apocalypse."
*Five hundred years ago, humans lived in relative peace across the world. There were different kingdoms, but three stood above the rest: Astoria, Valdris, and Nethermoor.*
*But on what should have been a lovely spring day, everything changed. A brilliant blast of light appeared in the sky, so bright it illuminated the entire world. Strange, needle-like projectiles began raining down, penetrating human bodies and causing people to collapse into deep sleep.*
’That must have been terrifying,’ Kaine thought.
*When humanity awakened, they discovered they had been fundamentally changed. Every person now possessed supernatural abilities unique to them. Many used their newfound powers for good. Others chose a darker path, using their abilities for personal gain and causing chaos.*
*After three centuries of gradual adaptation, the authorities established an organization called The Channel. This group trained people with abilities to become soldiers, tasked with stopping those who used their powers for evil.*
*However, just two decades later, another blast appeared in the sky. This one was different. Instead of light and projectiles, it rained beings from another realm: elves, demons, monsters, and beasts of unimaginable horror.*
’Elves? There are actual elves in this world? And demons... that explains what attacked me in the forest.’
*What followed was a catastrophe beyond human comprehension. Every race fought for survival in a brutal war that consumed the world. Cities burned, armies fell, and civilization crumbled.*
*After ten years of countless deaths, three heroes rose above all other warriors. Known as The Three Knight Brothers, they wielded gleaming swords and possessed mastery over earth and metal.*
*Using their combined power and sacrificing their very life force, the brothers created massive barriers that stretched impossibly high into the heavens. Their bodies were never found, and it was assumed they had given everything to power the protective walls that now stood hundreds of feet tall around each kingdom.*
"Ah, that explains why the walls are so tall," he said to himself.
*Humanity seized this opportunity. Those inside the barriers turned on the remaining enemy races within their territories, driving them out or destroying them entirely. The walls proved impenetrable to outside forces, finally giving humans a chance to rebuild.*
*Every day since then, the other races have sought ways to break through the barriers and finish what they started.*
"Wow, that’s both fascinating and terrifying," Kaine said.
He looked toward the windows, surprised to see that night had fallen while he’d been reading. His body ached from the day’s activities, and exhaustion was creeping into his twelve-year-old frame.
’I should probably read one more book before going to bed,’ he thought, remembering what the system had said about his intelligence growing through study.
"System, can you show me my current stats?"

Kaine’s eyes widened, and a huge grin spread across his face. "My intelligence went up by four points! That’s amazing!" He felt genuinely excited about the progress.
Then he noticed something else. "Wait, my strength increased by one too. How did I gain the strength point?"
[The strength increase resulted from your physical training today, Host.]
"So I can gain strength just by working out?" When the system confirmed this, Kaine’s excitement dimmed slightly. "But just one point? I ran half the city and nearly died, and I only got one measly strength point?"
[You didn’t really do much training, Host.]
"Really?" Kaine said, his voice rising with playful indignation. "All that distance, all that suffering, and you’re telling me I didn’t do much? System, I could barely breathe!"
The system remained silent.
"Now you’re silent," Kaine muttered, but he was smiling despite his complaints.
As he prepared to find another book, a book spine caught his eye: "Demon Races: The King of Hell." Just reading the title made him shiver with fear, but he knew he needed to understand his enemies.
He pulled the book from the shelf and settled back into his chair. The cover showed a terrifying illustration of a massive demon with multiple horns and eyes that seemed to burn with inner fire.
Kaine opened to the first page, but as he began reading about the various hierarchies of hell, exhaustion from his long day began to take hold. His eyelids grew heavy, and the words on the page started to blur together.
Despite his best efforts to stay awake, sleep gradually overtook him, and he dozed off with the book still open in his lap, his mind filled with images of demons and ancient knights.
