The path of immortals and mortals is recursive; without deep cultivation, how can one traverse it? The way of gods and spirits is divided; how could flattery and evil intentions sneak through? Even though one may cultivate one’s form and nurture one’s breath on isolated islands, if the three corpses are not severed, one ultimately faces a tribulation after five hundred years; even if one embraces the truth and guards the mystic portal, without transcending the corporeal soul, it’s difficult to meet the appointment at the Turquoise Pool. Thus, although you have heard of the true Tao, you have not realized enlightenment. With intentions to self-cultivate, yet greed and ignorance remain unshed; with the body entered into sainthood, yet anger and vexation are hard to rid. You must travel to rectify past faults, seek out your fate. Some may use a mortal body to diligently serve and repay their country; while others, driven by anger, attract disasters. Life and death cycle endlessly; karmic debts relentlessly pursue, endlessly exacting retribution. My heart aches for you! Pitying that your bodies faced sharp blades daily, sinking into the sea of suffering, though your hearts remain loyal, you often drift without support. Hence, commanded by Jiang Shang according to the weight of your fate and your level of merit, I assign you as the Eight Gods, each commanding a department, arranging the Cycle, overseeing the good and evil in the Mortal World, assessing deeds across the Three Realms."
