An old Taoist rode upon the auspicious clouds, bamboo staff in hand, and spoke a verse: "In lofty recline atop the nine layers of cloud, with meditation cushion I grasp the true Tao. Beyond the profound yellow of Heaven and Earth, I am to be the revered Master. From Pangu was born Taiji, following the two principles and Four Symbols course. The formidable presence of Saints Tongtian and Primordial was instantly suppressed, their aura halted. Taishang, Primordial, and Tongtian all looked towards the South, flew up, and arrived before Taoist Hongjun, bowing in unison, "Disciple wishes for the teacher to have boundless saintly longevity! Unaware of the teacher’s arrival, we did not come to meet you from afar, we ask for your forgiveness." Taoist Hongjun spoke sternly, "All Saints are now gathered here." The other two had no such intentions originally; it was only because your discipleship was so harmful, they had no choice but to react. Although it was driven by fate, it is still due to your lax discipline, leading to the downfall of Jie Sect’s Destiny, and your misdeeds are numerous. Had I not interceded, mutual retribution would have no end. I have come to show great compassion and clear up grudges and grievances for you, to lead your sects and not create further chaos." Primordial and Taishang simultaneously bowed in respect, saying, "Thank you, Master!" Taoist Hongjun looked at the Western Two Saints and said dispassionately, "The rise of Buddhism and retreat of Taoism, this is the will of Heaven. Buddhism shall prosper for a Calamity, but due to your actions leading to the shattering of the Primordial Land and the resulting overwhelming karma, Buddhism shall face four calamities of eradication within its period of prosperity."
