Chapter 97 97: Leo's Pride

What happened next was no longer my responsibility. It was entirely theirs. It was the consequences of their action. A week had passed since I took over the pride, and except for the first two days of the week, I was completely preoccupied with one thing. Fucking. Sex. Mating. Planting seeds in the garden. Whatever you want to call it. I did that. I did a shit ton of it. Every waking moment other than hunting and eating, I spent on top of a female. Once I got a taste of that lionussy, I nearly lost my sanity to it. Which was completely understandable and justified. You wouldn't understand it unless you are a walking high-testosterone beast with five or six females begging you to fuck them every moment of the day. It was a miracle that I could hold myself back at all. More than once, I just wanted to die on top of one of the females. What a way to go that would be. But after five days of nothing but constant fucking, I felt some shards of sanity return to me. I also eventually got used to the attractive smell of the females in heat and learned to resist their seduction. Finally, I was back to my normal self. "Something on your mind, my king?" Kali, one of the younger and sexier females, asked with an inviting wag of her tail. She was crouching down in front of me, her womanhood right on my face. Her posture and that arc of her spine could not have made it easier to climb on top of her and hump her without any other care in the world. But I held strong. I've already promised myself not to indulge further in debauchery, and that was it. One thing that was bigger than my lust was my pride. "Hunting. Hunting bigger prey is on my mind," I answer her while turning away. Not today bitch. You ain't getting the glorious D. "Again already?" she asked with a tilt of her head, "But we just ate yesterday," "Well, it's physically quite demanding keeping all the females satisfied. That requires lots of food," I said, and there was no lie. Believe it or not, it was more physically demanding to keep their females happy than it was to kill the Mbali brothers. It began small, with two females, Lela and Nasha (previously Zuri), giving their purity to me. But after that, many other females decided to go into heat. It was likely a biological instinct to go into heat after a takeover and being in the presence of a new male, a new scent, a new king. The fact that I was pleasing the two females to such an extent was also a factor in their going into heat. Even the mothers of a one-year-old cub went into heat and now, there were around nine females that were ready to be bred anytime. Which might seem impossible for a lone male to handle, but truthfully, I could handle twenty. I quickly realised that my physical blessing and size were not limited only to fighting and hunting. The only thing stopping me was time. I did not have time to mate the whole day, every day, even though I probably could. I also had other things to take care of. Although I wouldn't say the past five days were a waste either. Due to the activity, I had gotten a lot closer to the pride, and now you could barely feel that I was their new king. But the time for enjoyment was over. It was time to get back on the grind. Since I was already king, I set new goals to work towards. One goal was to strengthen the pride by training each individual member and adjusting their diet. Another goal I had was a more personal goal, and that was to hunt prey larger than a buffalo. It was not for food but more like a trophy and achievement. To make progress, I need to set goals to achieve and hunting bigger prey was the only viable option. I already hunted buffalo, so my next prey should be a giraffe, an eland, a hippopotamus, a rhino, and eventually an elephant. An impossible lineup of prey only a fool would hunt. But having that as a goal was better than having no goals at all. Impossible for you, maybe, but not for thee. "You said something about hunting a bigger prey?" A mature female voice came from my side. I turned to see Amara closing the distance between us. I bowed my head gently to receive her affection. Her head rubbed against mine and she pushed herself against me as if trying to stick to my body. And then she lay down next to me, invading my personal space as much as she could. It was not just her but other females also gathered around me. They rubbed their head on my body before they lay down, making sure their body were always in contact with mine. They had just seen me reject a mating invitation, and that meant I needed no private space and could cuddle. Lions were extremely social animals, and cuddling together like this was part of everyday life. And as their new king, everyone wanted to cuddle and give me small affections. "You took down a bachelor just a few days ago by yourself," she said, the respect and admiration in her voice was so thick I could feel it tickle my pride. "Isn't that enough for you?" she asked. I still remember my last hunt. The shock and awe on their faces as I took down a fully grown male buffalo alone. Believe it or not, it was my best hunt yet as I took down the bull with little to no strategy. I guess trying to impress my new females had given me strength. I just walked up to a bachelor that had wandered too far from the pride and took it down. Simple as that. I was getting better at wrestling them and also killing them. "Buffalo are not the biggest animal in the savannah, are they," I said while responding briefly to the other female who was grooming my mane. I think her name was Nia? I was trying to remember their name, but I still made minor mistakes now and then. "So you are planning on hunting down an elephant?" she asked with a raised eyebrow. e "Eventually," I said, but I could almost physically feel the weight of my own words. "Do you doubt me?" I asked again when I saw her staring into my eyes. "I wouldn't dare," she said quickly, "It's what surprises me so," she added, "I don't doubt you." Okay, those were dangerously sweet words. Lionessess had this way of digging into a lion's heart even if they wanted to stay a stranger. Maybe that was just how nature designed them, to provide that comfort and love. Both mentally, physically and spiritually. While we were talking, my four other lionesses were cuddling me from all sides. They were softer than you would be willing to believe and the frequent licks and rooming made the simple act of existing around them pleasurable. The feeling was worth dying for. "Did you know, Eshe once hunted a hippopotamus with the kings before the old kings," Nia commented from my side. "Did she?" I asked. By the kings before the old kings, they must mean the kings that ruled even before the Mbakli brothers. So that was at least four years ago. "She did," Amoura confirmed. "Oh well, where is she?" I asked for her and looked around. It didn't take long to find her lying under the shade of a tree on the hill. When she felt my gaze, she turned towards me. "Come here Eshe," I commanded, and she did so obediently. When she came near, I asked again, "They say you hunted a hippo before. Tell me about it, I am interested." Amora retreated from my side, her head resting on my back. Eshe found a spot near my side and lay down there. She was one of the lionessess that fiercely opposed me in the beginning so she was a bit timid. So I had to make her comfortable by making the first move and pressing my head on hers. She relaxed visibly and she pushed her face inside my mane for a few seconds before she came back out for air. And then she started telling he story. "It was the dry season. The rivers had emptied into mud and...." It was one of those moments vital for a lion pride. A time of socialising. And for the moment, I indulged in the warmth of their presence. The fact that we were once enemies was slowly being forgotten. The truth that I killed the father of their cubs was fading away into irrelevance. And slowly, the pride was becoming what it was always meant to be. Not just a band of ready hunters and killers, but also a family. ... ... ...
