Not long before that, Emperor Taizu of Song, Zhao's father, had designated his birthday as the Long Spring Festival "You'll find out soon." Then, he asked Lame to bring a rope and a stone knife and carved some grooves near the ends of the wooden couplets to tie them with ropes. After all, they were written with charcoal, not ink, and it was easy to smear if one wasn't careful.
