Chapter 48: A really tough battle This time, he seemed to pick up on Elliot’s mental command and positioned himself between the nearby tree and the orc. The orc’s horizontal attack cut him in half, as he had nothing to defend himself with, his arms seemingly unable to recover. But as it cut him, the power of the attack weakened, striking the tree behind him and splitting it in two, further weakening it and ending up barely grazing Elliot’s strengthened sword. He had learned something when his summons were killed: Once they die, they become temporary stat points for him. And the ratio of stats they become is equal to the ratio he used to strengthen them. For example, in this case, the goblin has 20 points in vitality, 15 in strength, and 5 in agility. These come from 4, 3, and 1 stat points, respectively. When this tank dies, Elliot’s stats increase in the same proportion (4 in vitality, 3 in defense, and 1 in agility) and slowly decrease as the summon is restored within him. Although he has not yet been able to figure out how they are restored, he is sure that it has something to do with his mental power because it wears down every time this happens, although surprisingly, not by much. But he has discovered how long these enhanced stats last: approximately 20 to 30 minutes at maximum. Then, the first enhanced stat slowly decreases, followed by the second, and so on, over a period of approximately 1 hour. Therefore, he now had a maximum of 30 minutes (and 15 minutes recommended by his plan) to complete his plan. Kill the wizard before he kills his rat. Elliot took advantage of the moment when the axe struck his sword to deflect it toward the ground, causing it to hit the floor with great force, making it shake violently. At the same time, he jumped onto the tree that had been split in half and threw it at the orc. This tree was extremely heavy, and thanks to the small cloud of smoke that had risen from the dust, the orc didn’t see it until it fell on him, leaving him slightly dazed for a few moments. This unleashed even more rage in him, and he roared. With his heightened natural senses, he found Elliot in a second and jumped on him, catching him slightly off guard with his high speed. Elliot was forced to defend himself with his sword at his chest, but the impact of the axe sent him flying until he hit several trees. Blood spurted from his mouth when he realized that, in terms of strength, this orc must be close to 50 points or even at that milestone. Even so, he didn’t stray from what he wanted to do. He quickly turned around and split a tree in half. Then he jumped and kicked it at the orc. The orc caught it with his axe and smashed it before it could even scratch him, then continued his charge. But Elliot managed to throw several more trees at him, which, when shattered by his axe, fell to the ground. This somehow created a huge curtain of dust, enveloping the place in something where the senses could be confused. ’Now is the time.’ Seeing that he had escaped the Orc’s pursuit, Elliot turned around, fixed his gaze on the wizard, and lunged at him. The wizard was about to launch a small but powerful fireball at the summoned rat to kill it once and for all, while the rat sought to attack him head-on, unaware that a fireball would soon strike it. The Orc’s cunning in creating a fireball behind his body to surprise him was not to be underestimated. Elliot was able to see it because he attacked from the side. If that fireball managed to strike the rat squarely, it would die, but he would die at Elliot’s hands as well, so it wasn’t too serious. Still, it would ruin Elliot’s plans, as he alone could not defeat the orc in its current state. That was why he couldn’t allow the rat to be wiped out. ’Shit, I’m not going to make it.’ Elliot hurried as fast as he could, but when he saw the fireball shooting out of the orc’s hand, approaching the body of his summoning, he immediately made a decision. He took the magic book out of his inventory and threw it with all his strength and pinpoint accuracy, based not on mathematical calculations, but on pure instinct. The book arrived at its destination a second before he did. It landed right before the spell, causing it to explode, having found its target. Elliot’s eyes lit up when he realized that the magic was actually a fire mine disguised as a normal fireball. It was the most perfect scenario he could have imagined. The explosion engulfed the book in flames, but it didn’t burn; it was simply sent flying through the air and then began to fall. But instantly, Elliot arrived like a shadow and crossed from side to side. And the orc’s head flew through the air. ’I did it.’ Elliot smiled and stopped. His mind was happy, so he looked back. He knew his fight wasn’t over. The momentary happiness was suppressed as his head turned. ’Now I just have to attack his armor. With the sword’s attribute, it should be eas...’ His thoughts stopped midway when a huge axe reflected in his eyes, and his bones cracked in pain, revealing what had just happened. His body was sent flying to the right, like a puppet whose strings had been cut, only coming to a halt with the help of nearby trees. Whether it was bones or internal organs, nothing could withstand that blow, and his mind descended into chaos. The attack was terrifying and sought to kill him cleanly with a single strike. Just then, the rat disappeared. Had it been killed too, or had it simply vanished because its master was dead? The huge orc warrior emerged from behind the axe, his movement so astonishing that it scattered much of the dust, allowing him to see that his companion was dead. His axe, stained with blood, reflected the honor of victory. The scars on his body and the blood on his waist reflected, with honor, that he had fought against someone worthy; someone capable of seriously wounding him and even killing him. Therefore, his proud bearing could not be concealed. The majesty of his slow movements contrasted slightly with the extremely rapid movement he had just made to kill his enemy with a single blow. It did not matter if he had killed him by catching him off guard; the victor is the one who tells the story. --
