Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Where Hope Ends (2) Raven rushed to Blaze’s side, but he lifted his hand, stopping him. Kill the humans. That goes for all of you. No one will interfere with this. Raven groaned, but backed down. So did Crawler and Fester, and jumped down to fight the chosen. David snarled as soon as the others left. He couldn’t see Blaze’s face, but he could recognize the one who tricked him into dying from smell. Meanwhile, Blaze was surprised by David’s behavior. It seemed he wasn’t the only zombie whose resentment didn’t fade after death. Well, after Blaze indirectly caused his death, David was rightfully pissed. Even though he got a better mother from the deal. Not to mention, his flabby body had transformed into that of a Mr. Olympia. Instead of showing gratitude, David lost his cool and attacked Blaze because he resented him. What kind of attitude was that? Truly ungrateful. Maybe I should have had zombies play with his mother first before getting him killed. Nah, that’s dark, even for me. As Blaze said, David’s luck was terrible enough. He had just found a place to call home and a maternal figure when Blaze arrived again. This time, to kill his mother... in a way. As for David, Blaze had no intention of killing him. If possible, he wanted to tame him. Who could blame him for having such thoughts? Judging from his explosive strength and agility, David had evolved thrice, much like himself. It would be a waste to kill him for the nucleus. Before all that, there was one crucial step he had to follow. A rowdy beast needs to be beaten into submission first. Blaze got up, dusting his suit. It was the second suit he got, and it was already in tatters. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find a readymade suit like this? "Grr!" You don’t care? Hm, it almost makes me regret not having killed you myself. "Roar!" I agree. Blaze smirked, pulling his claws out. There’s no point in talking. The two grade-4 zombies charged at each other. Blaze was expecting another punch from the simpleton. Instead, David raised his fists and slammed them on the ground. The strength output was so strong that it caused the ground to crack. Blaze quickly dug his tendrils into the ground to stabilize himself when a shadow covered him. He looked up and saw David in the air, trying to squash him under its weight. Blaze pulled himself with the help of his tendrils, barely evading the blow in time. A cloud of dust exploded into the air as David crashed to the ground. He stared at his feet, wondering why there wasn’t any blood underneath. I’m not there, doofus. Blaze said to himself before slapping David on the back of his head with his tendril. David turned around, huffing like a bull, as he charged at Blaze. Sensing the charge, the latter jumped into the crater. David didn’t stop and kept charging. He wanted to hit Blaze at all costs. The protector jumped off the edge, but to his surprise, Blaze was nowhere in sight! "Grr?" David turned around and saw Blaze waving back at him. He was stuck to the crater’s wall with his tendrils, fooling David into jumping inside. "Roar!" David roared, thrashing in the air, trying to grab Blaze. Instead, the latter used his tendrils as a spring and jumped off the wall and landed on top of him, as if David were his surfboard. You wanted to say something? "GRR!" I’m tricking you? When did that happen? "Roar!" David roared, pointing at the edge of the crater. Oh, that’s called outsmarting you. Just like this! Before David could respond, Blaze’s tendrils shot towards the former’s neck. David tried ripping them off, but Blaze didn’t give him time to react. He twisted his body mid-air and yanked the tendrils hard, pulling David so his head was lined up with the ground. Then, he let gravity do the rest. David’s head was slammed into the crater floor with brutal force. The entire ground shook, sending dust and debris everywhere. Cracks spread out from the point of impact like a spiderweb. Even the walkers who were enjoying the feast couldn’t ignore it and turned around. That’s when they saw the chosen and charged at them. They didn’t attack Blaze and walked right past. He doubted they even noticed him. Unlike the creature buried under his feet. "GRRRR!" David let out a muffled groan, since his head was buried underground. He tried to pull himself out, but Blaze pulled the tendrils tighter, forcing him down. Unfortunately for Blaze, there was only so much he could do. Since David couldn’t pull his head up, he pushed his hands into the ground and tore it apart. With a loud roar, he threw Blaze off his back. The latter bounced back with his tendrils, but he had barely stabilized himself when David grabbed a passing walker by its legs and threw it at him. Blaze quickly shot his tendrils towards the walker. Not to kill it, but to ensure no harm came to the undead. After all, a little birdie told him not to kill the walkers, as it would awaken the Headless. That was close. After placing the walker on the ground, Blaze let out a sigh of relief. Then turned back to David. All that muscle and you couldn’t grow a single brain cell. I guess even the necroseed can’t affect something irredeemable. David didn’t appreciate Blaze’s tone, and once again lunged at him. But the next second, he dropped to the ground, clutching his head as if it was about to burst. At some distance, Blaze had raised his arm, pointing towards David. [Eligible for binding: No.] [Success rate: 0.0%] [Target is already under someone’s submission.] Even Hivemind can’t tame him? Blaze was genuinely surprised, but David’s reaction surprised him more. The moment Blaze activated Hivemind on him, he dropped to the ground, writhing in pain. It seemed that his attempt to tame David was interfering with the existing connection, causing the latter extreme mental agony. So what did Blaze do? He concentrated more, causing David even more misery. Since he couldn’t overpower him, he would torture him into submission.
