Tears welled up before she could stop them. "I was doing okay. And then you show up like this..." She laughed through her tears. Haruki looked flustered. "Wait—don't cry. This was supposed to cheer you up." He fumbled with his phone, pretending to check the time while rapidly typing something into the search bar.
