Instead, he glanced briefly at the bandages covering his wounds, his expression unchanging, before letting out a thunderous laugh. "Worororo! Someone bring me some good sake!" He leaned back casually, exuding the aura of a man entirely at ease with himself. It was as if he were seated in a banquet hall instead of a cell. The soldiers stationed around his cell gritted their teeth in frustration. Many of them had endured the horrors of Kaido's reign, and seeing him now—arrogant even in defeat—stirred a deep, simmering anger. Some clenched their weapons tightly, their knuckles white with tension. But orders were orders. With a resigned sigh, one soldier snapped, "Don't even think about it! Nobody's bringing you any drinks, you prisoner!" Kaido shifted his gaze toward the speaker. Even with his strength restrained by Seastone, his piercing eyes carried such an overwhelming presence that the soldier involuntarily stumbled back a few steps. A tiger may lose its claws, but it does not lose its predatory power. "You're dismissed. I'll handle this from here," a voice called from outside. The soldiers turned to see Yamato approaching. As the Ace of the Royal Court, her presence immediately commanded respect. The soldiers straightened, saluting her sharply, though their expressions betrayed unease. "Lady Yamato," one of them spoke hesitantly, "Master Robin specifically instructed us to keep a close watch on Kaido." As one of Wanokuni's generals and a key figure in the integration of external and internal affairs, Yamato held a position of considerable influence. "It's fine," she replied casually, tossing her head slightly. "Robin's already been informed, and Alex will be here shortly." Reassured by her words, the soldiers exchanged glances and retreated without further objection. If Alex himself was coming, it was clearly a matter far above their pay grade. Better to stay out of it. As the soldiers exited, Kaido's deep laugh resonated from the shadows of the cell. "Worororo! You seem to be enjoying yourself here in Wanokuni," he said mockingly. "No wonder you don't want to come back to me." Yamato stepped forward, her eyes fixed on the massive figure bound before her. Without a word, she tossed a jug of sake into the cell. It landed with a hollow clink on the stone floor before Kaido caught it deftly, even with his hands restrained. "Are you still clinging to that nonsense?" she retorted sharply. "Look at where you are now—defeated, captured, and locked away like a common criminal. There's nothing left to say." Kaido lifted the jug to his lips, taking a long, deliberate gulp. When he lowered it, his earlier smirk had faded into an unreadable expression. His eyes lingered on Yamato, and for a moment, the silence between them was heavy with unspoken words. It was unclear whether he intended to say something or simply observe her. Then, with a soft sigh, Kaido seemed to let go of whatever thought had crossed his mind, taking another swig of sake instead. "When you grow up, you might learn to speak properly," Kaido said, his voice dripping with condescension. "It's a fact," Yamato retorted sharply, glaring at him through the bars. "But I never thought I'd see you, a stubborn old man, in this kind of situation." As Yamato observed Kaido sitting in the dark cell, memories surfaced—of herself, locked in a similar place by Kaido's hand years ago, forced to reflect on her defiance when she longed to set sail. Kaido, however, didn't seem fazed by her words or her expression. "This is the fate of the defeated," he said matter-of-factly. "The law of the jungle—survival of the fittest—is nature's truth. Humans, as animals, are no exception to this law." "I'm not here to talk about winners and losers!" Yamato's voice rose sharply, her frustration evident. "Why did you interfere in this war? Why did you tear up the agreement with Wanokuni?" Kaido tilted his head slightly, annoyance flashing across his face. "Your strength has grown, but your thoughts are still stuck in childhood, aren't they?" "This world is cruel! When the stakes are high enough, even bonds of brotherhood, friendship, or loyalty can be abandoned without hesitation. That's the reality!" "Stop making excuses!" Yamato shot back furiously. "And if you're going to talk about betrayal and gains, why didn't you just run after Big Mom was defeated? Is that your idea of becoming Joy Boy?!" Kaido's words caught in his throat. He stopped mid-response, narrowing his eyes and fixing his gaze on Yamato. The intensity of his stare bore down on her, but Yamato didn't flinch. Her eyes remained locked on his, resolute and unwavering. "So," Kaido finally spoke, his voice low, "where did you hear about Joy Boy?" "Robin and Alex mentioned it once," Yamato replied evenly. "And I overheard you talking about it with Uncle King." Kaido's expression shifted as he muttered the name to himself. "The daughter of Ohara, taken by Alex." He looked back at Yamato, his tone more calculating. "Do you even know what Joy Boy represents?" "I didn't before," Yamato admitted. "But now I do. Joy Boy was a great figure of the past—and someone destined to change the world in the future." Kaido laughed heartily, the sound echoing through the chamber. "Worororo! How unfortunate! As a loser, I'm no longer Joy Boy. And as for your General of Wanokuni, Alex—he's not destined to be Joy Boy, either!" Yamato frowned deeply, frustration evident in her expression. She opened her mouth to question him further but stopped as she sensed a familiar presence behind her. Even without her honed Observation Haki, Yamato didn't need to turn around to know who it was. Kaido, too, felt the shift in the atmosphere. Though restrained by Seastone, his senses weren't dulled entirely. He shifted his attention away from Yamato, refilling his jug and staring straight ahead. Soon, Alex stepped into view, accompanied by Robin. Kaido's sharp gaze swept over them, lingering on Alex—the man who had defeated both him and Big Mom. "Kaido." Kaido chuckled darkly. Setting the jug down, he smashed it against the ground with deliberate force, shards scattering across the cell. Even weakened, the action carried the weight of defiance. "So," Kaido sneered, "you've spared my life, unlike Linlin's. What now? Are you here to humiliate me?!" As he spoke, a wave of Conqueror's Haki pulsed from Kaido. Though subdued by the Seastone, the presence it carried was undeniable—a declaration of his unbroken will. "I'm not interested in humiliating you, Kaido." Meeting Kaido's fierce gaze, Alex continued, his voice steady. "It would be a waste for you to die here. Don't you still want to realize your ambitions? Your long-cherished dreams?" Kaido's eyes narrowed slightly as Alex pressed on. "The ideals of Joy Boy and the treasure that Roger spoke of—One Piece. Don't you still crave the answers to those mysteries?"
