The number of boys and girls in the class were roughly equal, and the students sat separated by gender. Suyun hesitated for a moment and then said, “Luo Yang and Xiao Daniu will be deskmates, sitting behind Hong Jiaxin.” Seeing Luo Yang and Xiao Daniu sitting behind them, both Hong Jiaxin and Zeng Xiaomei turned to look at them, their mouths curling into teasing smiles. Zeng Xiaomei said softly but candidly, “You guys are really fighting hard to sit behind a great beauty.” Xiao Daniu, who usually had no interest in girls, stared at Zeng Xiaomei and clicked his tongue, “Damn, Concubine Yang, you consider yourself a beauty?
